We expected a pretty palette, but SS14 looks to show us a whole new sort of softness. Swathed in shades of sugar-lemon yellows and minted greens, every one of our day-to-day staples is lifted, lightened. Add lace, metallics, sweetly seductive sheers and of course, florals, and you’re new season set.
There was no escaping the emphasis on shorts back in September, or many a designers’ take on the humble sweatshirt. Youthful and fresh, yet undeniably luxe and effortlessly wearable, it’s not all about a slogan or a slice of midriff. Silks, leathers and beautifully cut shapes
make it the trend to covet.
Tribal, exotic designs are key for SS14 so why not dip your toe in early with a flash of Caribbean colour or digital ikat print to offset the winter uniform. Animal print is again a wardrobe staple with leopard print well established as a core neutral. Go a step further and clash your patterns to really amp up your summer ensemble.
With its pared-back precision, the minimalist aesthetic gets a modern refresh for SS14. Clean, knife-sharp lines and austere monochrome offer a simple, accessible elegance for all ages. Combine crisp black and white tones with bold geometric print for an of-the-moment look.
