The KitchenAid Artisan Blender is the ideal kitchen companion if you like experimenting with flavours. Simply add your chosen ingredients and blitz for a smooth cocktail blend. There’s an ice crushing setting if you like yours on the rocks.

The Kenwood SB056 Smoothie 2 Go Maker is an alcohol-free drink alternative. Add either fresh or frozen berries or yoghurt for a delicious health kick, or easily whip up a virgin cocktail.

This handy Kenwood CH180 mini chopper is great for chopping up small batches of mint for your mojito and the bowl can be put in the dishwasher.

If it’s fresh juice that you’re after the Magimix Le Duo Plus XL Juice Extractor, Black Satin pours fresh fruit and vegetable juice straight into your glass. It also makes coulis and thicker purees for different textures.

Keep your cool

If you need extra storage for your drinks but don’t want to cram the fridge up too much, a mini fridge or wine cooler makes a useful investment. The Lec DF50GC Wine and Beer Fridge stores up to 10 bottles of wine and a dozen cans of beer or fizzy drinks. Thanks to its compact size, it can be stored on top of another unit in the garage or kitchen.

A portable, chic alternative is the Culinary Concepts Leather Handled Wine Cooler. This cooler can hold up to two champagne bottles comfortably, when one bottle simply isn’t enough!

For a more streamlined look, an integrated wine cabinet looks the part for the avid wine connoisseur. The Liebherr WTEES2053 Integrated Wine Cabinet offers two adjustable temperature wine zones, which you can set to the exact degree required. Handmade wooden shelves pull out, allowing you to browse your finest vintage.

If you’ve quite few guests to keep well watered you might appreciate this NScessity NSRBO-36S Rechargeable Corkscrew with Integrated Foil Cutter. It unscrews up to 30 corks on a single charge, all at the touch of a button, and illuminates when in use. There’s a handy integrated foil cutter on the top.

  • 175g ripe strawberries or 200g/8oz raspberries (or use a mix of 100g/4oz strawberries and 100g/4oz raspberries)
  • about 6 ice cubes
  • juice of ½ lime
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 100ml white rum
  • small lime slice to serve

If you’re using raspberries, blend these first to a purée then rub through a sieve to extract the pips. Put a handful of ice cubes in a powerful blender and crush. Add the berries or pulp, plus the lime and lemon juice and rum. Whizz again and pour into a chilled cocktail glass straight away. Decorate with a lime slice. Equally as good with or without the rum.
