Brown brogues are such a fashion essential that your wardrobe could never be complete without a pair. With a whole host of updated versions available, it’s easy to think that you have to invest in a hybrid pair to look trendy.

However, this couldn’t be further from the truth, as classic brogues have a perpetual appeal and go with a range of different styles, from casual jeans to smart suits.

The brown brogue

Even if you already have a pair of brown brogues, Grenson’s Stanley brogues with Goodyear-welted construction will transform your style and make you look differently at quality shoes. A truly British brand, Grenson was launched in the 1800s in Northamptonshire and continues to manufacture its shoes in its UK-based factory.

Taking about 3 weeks to construct, the brand’s Goodyear-welted shoes can be resoled many times to give them a much longer life than any other type of shoes.

When it comes to suiting, brown shoes can be matched with any colour except black. A charcoal suit, on the other hand, works wonders. Just add a white shirt and navy tie and you have your next wedding outfit before the invitation drops through your letterbox.

Outfit 1: The Suit

Show off the fine detailing on the leather uppers of the brogues by pairing them with slim jeans from Diesel. Keep your look casual yet branded, with a bright red tee from Ted Baker and a classic navy jacket by Gant. An ideal outfit for enjoying a Saturday stroll in the park or Sunday lunch in the pub.

Outfit 2: Jeans

Coloured chinos have, over the years, become as important to a man’s wardrobe as a good pair of jeans or a well-tailored suit. Merc’s Winston pair have a contemporary slim fit and are available in a range of colours, but the berry is the current favourite. Adding a white polo shirt from Lyle & Scott Vintage range and a chunky Diesel cardigan help to highlight the chinos and brogues.
