The blogger shoot

Bloggers take a look at
the new Fashion EDIT

A couple of weeks ago, we invited 4 fabulous fashion bloggers to an exclusive fashion shoot at a Shoreditch studio location. The shoot was organised to celebrate a new and exciting addition to our monthly Fashion EDIT campaign, as well as to showcase the launch of our new johnlewisretail Instagram. We asked them to come along and take a look at the newestNew Proportions collection, sip champagne, munch on #JohnLewisEDIT cupcakes, have their hair, make-up and nails done and then style 3 looks from the curated Edit pieces.

A collection focused around clean cuts, directional new season classics and bursts of bold colour, each blogger chose their favourite pieces, added their own style spin and had photographs taken of their individual looks. Amidst flashes of timeless stripes, pops of bold summer hues, blocked blacks and an abundance of chic pointed-toe courts, it was exciting to see the collection come to life through their eyes. Bomber jacket and boyfriend jean combos were rocked by Anneli of whatiboughttoday, alongside slick leather bodycon skirts and hot blue heels styled by Melissa of, showing how every chosen piece deserves a place in all types of wardrobes.

A massive fan of colour and body-conscious clothes, Melissa pounced upon the coral pink Reiss skuba skirt, slim-fitting sleek leather Whistles pencil and luxe silk-backed sweatshirt. Items which both fit to form and work seamlessly from office to after-dark blogging events, it was all about being day-to-night appropriate.

Anneli chose pieces which reflected her love of the androgynous look; pairing an oversized Whistles knit with a flippy leg-baring Warehouse skirt meant she needed little accessorising other than a snake grey COLLECTION court and a beautifully bold lip. Simple, super-stylish and totally now.

A key trend for SS14, minimalism and its pared-back shapes, and the emphasis on quality and a statement palette, meant each blogger thought the collection fresh, directional and ultimately wearable. With a love for classic designs and flattering cuts, Kylie of was instantly drawn toward the black Kin culottes and soft striped tees, choosing to stick to a strictly monochrome colour combo in one of her chosen looks. Kristabel of and Anneli both styled-up stripes too, opting for soft dove-grey and pale nude accents, making each outfit effortlessly spring-ready.

From Kylie’s styling of the spring/summer bomber to Kristabel’s textural take, it was clear the collection had a piece (or two) for all. When asked what they were looking forward to this season, Melissa went for PVC and all things pink, and Anneli opted for pretty pastels, which she can’t wait to rock with some boyfriend jeans and lots of leather.
