They say to 'never skimp on the things that separate you from the ground'. Well 'they' say it and we say it too — you may expect to spend a third of your life in bed, after all. A good night's sleep is always a wise investment. So we CONSCIOUSLY CRAFTED this bed frame with materials that we think are long overdue a comeback: cherry wood and rattan wicker weave.
Our design team made the decision to use solid cherry wood and cherry veneers for the frame. Many makers have ditched redwoods, with modern furniture tending towards the contrasts of darker or paler woods. When our design team saw some newly sourced cherry samples they were struck by the rich warmth of the colour and the fine, straight grain. They saw the chance to reintroduce this redwood to a new generation.
As the cherry is finished with a clear lacquer, you can expect it to darken and develop a rich, natural patina over time as the colour deepens and intensifies, telling its own unique story.
The design itself is classic Mid-century — strong and straight lines for the mattress base, contrasting gentle curves in the headboard and legs. It's the kind of unfussy, precise but still personal design that has made Mid-century style so popular even as the decades tick by.
That headboard section is a rattan wicker weave. Once the darling of '60s and '70s interior design, rattan is a low-maintenance, high-durability alternative to more traditional fabric headboards, chosen to cap off the bed's natural, untreated aesthetic.
We also stock a wide variety of mattresses (even the best bed frame is rather uncomfortable without one) as well as bedding and duvets.
Try before you buy
We're confident in our furniture's quality, but it's always a good idea to check that it's a good personal fit for you. We can't display all of our pieces in all of our stores — they just won't fit — but call us on 03452 661805 and we can help you find a nearby location to see, sit or even lie on it before ordering.
