Our knitting, crochet and sewing courses run from 10.30am - 4.30pm and are held in The Sloane room on the Seventh floor with a selection of professional tutors, many of whom are published authors.


You will be provided with all your materials, morning and afternoon refreshments and a buffet lunch. Tickets are £50 per person, payable at the time of booking. Cancellations with a full refund are accepted no later than 7 days in advance. Rowan International members receive an exclusive 5% discount n these courses.

Design your own knits

Are you searching for a knitting pattern but can't find what you want? Or perhaps you have an idea for a design and want to know how to make it into a knitting pattern? If so this workshop is for you. Learn how to make a simple design from an existing garment and make alterations with confidence.


Tuesday 26 August

Sew a secret pocket bag

During the day you'll produce a lined bag learning different skills which can be used in other projects. You'll also be able to adapt other projects and patterns by using a range of techniques to give them your own individual flair; making bias binding, using piping for decoration, using a concealed zip and putting in simple pockets.


Tuesday 9 September

Backwards knitting and Entrelac

This is a course aimed at those who can knit and purl and are interested in changing it up a little by working purl-free for a while. Save time and learn to adapt your knitting style and eliminate wrong-side rows by attending this course and learning to knit in reverse. Participants will work on short-row shaping and Entrelac.

Learn to knit socks

Join resident knitting consultant and self-proclaimed sock addict Freddie for this comprehensive workshop learning the techniques required to knit a pair of socks. You must already be able to knit and purl in order to take this class. You'll learn how to use double-pointed needles, work short-row shaping and grafting.


Tuesday 7 October

Festive Fairisle and Intarsia

Join Melanie for this wonderful introduction to knitting with colour, which incorporates a festive theme just in time for Christmas. Learn to work both the Fairisle stranding method and the Intarsia method of working large patches of colour.
