Q & As

Rated 3.8 out of 5 by 23 reviewers.
Rated 2 out of 5 Dissapointed We Hate the cutlery draw and have started using our old cutlery basket from our old Siemens dish washer, the draw is fiddly to load and reduces the load height of the top draw. If you lower the top draw then normal dinner plates will not fit into the bottom basket. The old basket is not the answer as reduces space as it not made for the washer. The machine seems to take a lot longer than the old machine and has no reduce time function. Regret buying this machine. 26 May 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Much better than the Bosch I had before. It's early days, but, so far, I am really pleased with the efficiency of this model. I chose it because of the extended warranty. Crockery, glasses and pans are very clean and it is very quiet. I use the longer programme with extra dry - the latter option does seem necessary. One star is omitted because of the cutlery tray at the top. I thought this would be a good idea, but as I purchased it in a hurry after spending too much money trying to repair my previous Bosch dishwasher, I didn't read the reviews. As another reviewer has commented, this tray makes the top shelf difficult to use. I have now taken the tray out and, luckily, after eventually reading the reviews, I kept my old cutlery basket and use that instead, It does take up space in the middle of the bottom shelf, but I have found that you can fit in enough pans if you angle them slightly. I have found that it has more room than my previous machine in this respect. My advise would be to buy a similar Siemens model without the cutlery shelf. 14 May 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent machine This was a replacement for a machine that I had had a lot of problems with. It is such an improvement on its predecessor, it is very quiet, well laid out draws which allows an efficient fill, the draws are flexible with pull up/down accessories. A cutlery tray - more often found on more expensive models. The wash cycles (except the quick wash) are quite long but the results are good particularly if you use the extra dry option. I've had really good wash results from really dirty/dried out pans and dishes and am really pleased so far. The additional 3 year warranty was the clincher for me in choosing this machine over an alternative. Highly recommended. 25 February 2015
Rated 2 out of 5 by Very disappointed This dishwasher does not work very well. I put it on the Eco mode and I often end up having to wash half of it by hand afterwards. We have to clean the entire thing out far too regularly and I have to ensure that every last particle is removed from dishes before they go in, which almost renders the dishwasher useless. My mother has the same model and gave up using it after a few months (and several call outs) and now washes everything by hand. She was told by the engineer that these dishwashers don't work very well because they have to meet with the European standard of being ecological. It just means they are ineffective. Another friend of mine (not with this make) says she only gets good results if it is on Intensive wash. A friend has a SMEG and says she has the same problems. They certainly don't build them like they used to. Maybe it's a product-wide thing, maybe it's just my make. I can't believe it's just my model as my mother and I have similar problems. 26 November 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Did not last as long as expected. The dishwasher is now 4 years old and when I purchased it I thought that by going for a premium model it was last a long time as my Miele washing machine. But unfortunately not the machine is now giving an error (E25) every time it empties the water; this is quite disappointing so the next one will be a different brand. 13 November 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Swapped from Bosch, no complaints After 14 years with a Bosch I went to the store to buy a new one (Bosch that is), but the door buttons etc felt better on the Siemens and the 5 year guarantee was free with it, so elected to change to this Siemens model. Since my old Bosch had a cutlery basket I thought I'd keep hold of it just in case - I saw some poor comments on this machine regarding the cutlery drawer. The basket fits really well as half of the rear "prongs" on the Siemens lower rack can be lowered independently, so if you find you need a basket they are pretty cheap on Amazon. Some other comments I saw complained about 3+ hours washing cycle, thats true enough, but there is the "Vario Speed" button that cuts it to around 90 minutes, at the cost of a little more water and power. This speedy setting still seems to get the job done, I used it several times when I was too lazy to load the machine at night and needed it doing in the morning. So I was all prepared to ditch the cutlery rack even before buying the unit - I needn't have worried, its worked great on the Auto program. Quite how it does that is a little bit of a mystery to me, since the water jets should get blocked by the items on the rack below it ... whatever magic Siemens are employing, its working for me, and my old cutlery basket is at the back of the cupboard. Possibly my good results are as a result of not using the default Eco setting - I'm suspicious of that as a default setting, as it may have been designed just to provide low energy and water results for the European test rating. If you are having issues therefore I suggest first using Auto as your standard setting and also ditching the dishwasher tablets which are known to be much worse at cleaning than separate dishwasher powder (the manufacturers get paid to recommend them as there is a high profit in them). 22 October 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Disappointed with machine, especially with top cutlery tray I really don't like the top tray for cleaning cutlery in this machine, even on intensive wash I find that cutlery cleaning is poor unless you have very little on the middle mugs tray and not great even then. Also the cutlery tray holders only hold thin tableware handles, not the fatter handles of kitchen knives. I have had to put the cutlery basket from my old machine in the bottom which works but takes space for plates. This top shelf also reduces height on the mugs shelf so bowls are a problem. As well as this the detergent holder is rather small for the all in one tablets and the book actually recommends that the machine works better with individual liquid or power and rinse aid rather than these modern tablets. Plate cleaning is mostly OK on intensive, haven't tried any other program as the book seems to say the automatic ones only work well if everything is equally soiled so sensor looking at water gets suitable result. As always John Lewis delivery service was very good. 19 August 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by No better than a cheaper make or model Very quiet. Cuttlery tray is an improvement on a basket as utensils are separated and come out clean. However the contents of the dishwasher dont dry particularly well even using the 'extra dry' feature. It is also difficult to stack plates that have a lip and are thicker than a bone china type plate. When choosing a new dishwasher in the future I would take a plate with me and try it in the rack to make sure it fitted. 12 August 2014
