Medela Medium Nipple Shields, Pack of 2
Best shields I've tried. If breastfeeding is too painful, try these. Great product.

Thank goodness for these
These were brilliant - after a week with a new baby who just couldn't latch, hand expressing and feeding with a syringe (and many stressful/tearful attempts to feed a hungry newborn baby), these worked right away. Now after 5 weeks we've almost entirely done away with them (I now only use them if sore to give my nipple a break). There were lots of people who discouraged the use of these - and I am incredibly glad that I had the confidence to ignore them.

Thanks Good for them!
Thanks Good my Midwife gave me one of these Medela Nipple Shields after birth still in the Hospital when I realised my big and normally hard nipples are flat and soft when trying to Breast feed my Baby.
Our Baby is 7 months now and I am still using the same one from Hospital.
It's very easy to clean, soft practical with the box and my Baby doesn't have problem with it.
Just as one Lady says here - so sorry I didn't know about it before, I would take it with me to the Hospital and I would maybe be more relax about it.

Thank goodness these exist!
These nipple shields are the only reason I am able to breast feed. I only wish I had bought them before giving birth and made them part of my hospital bag.
For some unknown reason my average sized and average point sized nipples went flat every time my baby tried to feed in hospital - meaning my baby was unable to latch on and I had to spend the first three days hand expressing colostrum and feeding with a syringe. I ordered these shields and they arrived just as my milk came in and my baby happily latched straight away and we've been breast feeding using them ever since. The shields have also drawn my nipples out further so they no longer go flat when feeding, meaning now, at 3 weeks old, we're starting to feed without them.
Though my midwife has said it's fine to continue using the shields indefinitely, even when there's a larger demand for milk.
There is no doubt in my mind they would also be amazing for anyone suffering with cracked nipples... They are very comfortable.

best thing since sliced bread
do not listen to anyone who says you cannot use these. if you are in agony and thinking of giving up these will make the difference and you can carry on breastfeeding. and that can only be a good thing. buy them before you get a problem or you might regret it. the baby doesn`t mind and still feeds fine.

These were the only reason I was able to continue breastfeeding after initial problems caused severe cracked and bleeding nipples. I was in agony but these relieved the pain and allowed me to heal. My breastfeeding counsellor actually recommended them, and this brand in particular.
As soon as I was healed I could stop using them. They are a little tricky to get the hang of as the latch is a little different from without, but once I understood how they worked it was fine.
I'm now buying them in advance of having my second child so I can use them before problems get too bad.

Excellent for cracked/sore nipples!
My sister reccomended this when I was one week into breast feeding my first baby. I had perfectly normal nipples but my son was a strong sucker and I was in agony with sore cracked nipples. I used these for about two months which allowed by body to heal and I then reduced usage until at three months they were no longer needed. I will have some ready for the birth of my second baby!!!

I was discouraged from using these by the midwife so they are lying in a draw somewhere. According to her These are more for small or inverted nipples and not for, as I thought, cracked or sore nipples. Either way I would wait and not buy in advance.
