Threading a Brother sewing machine can become a quick and easy process. Raise the needle to its highest position using the hand wheel, then raise the presser foot to release the tension disks. Place the spool of thread on the spool pin, making sure that it is secure, before pulling the thread through the thread guide at the top of the machine and then down towards the tension control. Pass the thread through the tension control, making sure that it is between the tension disks, then bring the thread down through the thread guides and around the take-up lever, which is usually located on the side of the machine. Thread the needle from front to back, pulling the thread through until you have a tail of about 6 inches, before finally, lowering the presser foot to engage the tension and test the stitching to ensure that the thread is feeding smoothly.
