Discover our exclusive new collaboration with Folk
With a focus on sustainability and longevity, the new collection is about wearable, utilitarian pieces
London-based menswear label Folk has been championing an understated aesthetic since it launched in 2002, and is known for its impeccable utilitarian-inspired design, fastidious approach to detail and use of quality fabrics. With such impressive design credentials, we’re proud to present It’s All Good Folk, an exclusive collaboration between John Lewis & Partners and Folk, where sustainability, wearability and revisited classics from the Folk archive make up the backbone of the collection.
‘The collaboration is as much about a state of mind as it is the individual garments,’ says Folk founder and creative director Cathal McAteer. ‘It’s based on the wearer and how they feel when they’re enjoying life to the full and appreciating the goodness in the everyday.’
Staple outerwear, modern printed shirts, classic T-shirts and wear-anywhere trousers make up the collection of 27 key pieces – perfect for whatever the day throws your way. Each design takes on the boxy, masculine silhouette that Folk is famed for, nodding to its wearable take on traditional menswear.
Folk’s dedication to sustainability has been at the heart of the collaboration. Every decision throughout the design and production process has been made with low impact to the enviroment in mind, without ever compromising on design – from buttons made from corozo nut shells through to fully traceable Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) cotton and eco-printed logos.
‘A commitment to responsible production is what brought Folk together with John Lewis & Partners,’ Cathal explains. 'Folk has always been conscious of the impact we make, but It’s All Good Folk has accelerated things and allowed us to take a more proactive approach to something that has always been important to us.’
Expanding on this dedication to sustainability, the collection is imbued with a ‘wear it out’ mentality, encouraging men to get maximum wear out of every piece they buy. These styles are made to be worn until they are completely worn out or damaged, at which point they can be returned to any Folk store to be recycled.
It’s All Good Folk is available exclusively at John Lewis & Partners and Folk stores online and instore now, with more styles to come in September.
