Artisan pizza in less than three minutes? Let’s see if this electric oven can really rival the wood-fired restaurant experience

Our Ninja Artisan Electric Outdoor Pizza Oven & Air Fryer Review

Summer is made for alfresco entertaining and firing up the pizza oven – only this summer there’s no flame, fuss or gas, because Ninja’s new artisan pizza oven is electric. Traditionalists will scoff, but this bit of kit promises to make restaurant-quality 12-inch (30cm) pizzas in three minutes or less at the touch of a button. Should your local Italian be worried? Read on to find out.

What is the Ninja Artisan Electric Outdoor Pizza Oven & Air Fryer?

The clue is in the name, but it’s an outdoor pizza oven that makes no-turn pizzas at 370°C in minutes (after pre-heat time). While it’s a traditional-looking pizza oven, it’s actually a fuss-free, electric alternative to traditional wood-fired or gas models.

What’s more, it’s an air fryer oven, which is what really sets it apart from rivals. You are buying one piece of kit with four functions: pizza, bake, air fry and prove (a 30°C setting brings your dough to the optimal temperature for bakery-quality results).

It’s designed with a pull-down door and a Chef’s View Window, as well as an interior light, so you can watch food as it cooks (it’s the difference between beautiful and burnt).

What makes the Ninja Artisan Electric Outdoor Pizza Oven & Air Fryer special?

The main selling point has to be that it’s electric, so there’s no messy wood-burning or gas flare-ups. It’s actually shockingly easy to make delicious pizza with this oven, and with five pizza settings there’s a base/crust style to suit every palette: Artisan, Thin Crust, New York, Pan and Custom. Plus, while it’s portable and compact, the design is still big enough to fit a 12-inch pizza, six chicken breasts, 1.3kg of chips or a large sourdough loaf.

Can I leave the Ninja Artisan Electric Outdoor Pizza Oven & Air Fryer outside?

The oven is weather-resistant so you can store it outdoors, but Ninja recommends using the Ninja Artisan Oven Cover to keep it safe from the British elements.

The verdict: is the Ninja Artisan Electric Outdoor Pizza Oven & Air Fryer worth it?

As a person who wishes they were a naturally good cook, I can honestly say that nothing compares to the accomplishment of making a decent meal from scratch. With Ninja’s Artisan Electric Pizza Oven there’s zero guesswork –  because of the temperature-controlled electric heat, every pizza is precise and perfect.

Ninja doesn’t scrimp on aesthetics. The design is really premium and it sets a stylish scene outdoors and indoors. Plus, I think the price tag of £299 is incredibly competitive – especially when  restaurant pizza prices are so high. Are there any downsides? Well, the cord could be longer (I used an extension lead), and I didn’t fully agree with the given cooking timings (I’d recommend taking the pizza out at two minutes, not three).

One final thing – this is not a summer fad; I will use my pizza maker when we move into cosy autumn evenings and beyond. This is a seriously simple and impressive oven and I don’t think any opinions will differ.
