The Nikon D5500 is a compact DSLR which is capable of inspiring a new level of creativity. From capturing an ultra-sharp 24.2 megapixel photo to recording in Full HD video, the D5500 is a highly intelligent camera which can show off your shooting and editing skills. With its high resolution touch screen Vari-angle LCD screen you can flip-out exciting and new ways of capturing and sharing moments, where you let the camera do all the work.
Detailed photos and videos
The digital SLR camera has a high-resolution sensor with no optical low-pass filter. This frees the camera up to capture stunning details. And with the addition of EXPEED 4, image data is processed with ease which results in clean, sharply defined images – even in low light up to 25,600 ISO – 1080/60p videos and an extremely wide dynamic range.
Full focus
Delivering outstanding speed and accuracy, the D5500 features a 39-point AF system which includes nine highly accurate cross-type sensors for enhanced AF accuracy. You can even freeze moments with the D5500 which shoots up to five frames per second, or can extend moments with unlimited, continuous shooting at shutter speeds between four and 30 seconds.
Vari-angle monitor
Equipped with a large 3.2 inch LCD vari-angle monitor, the camera can capture large viewing angles so you get the bigger the picture. A new Fn button provides you with one-touch access to the essential settings such as aperture, ISO sensitivity, AF mode and much more. What’s more, the side-hinged vari-angle monitor opens up to 180 degrees to the left, which can be rotated up to 90 degrees clockwise, or up to 180 degrees counter-clockwise while it is open. This enables flexible shooting from a range of angles, even when capturing self portraits.
Nikon snapbridge
Connect your camera to your Smartphone wirelessly with Nikon snapbridge. Quickly and easily share by email, texting or posting online, wherever you are – no hotspot needed. You can even share your photographs on the move, or use a Smartphone or tablet to control your camera.
HD Video
Capture HD video at a frame rate of 60p with tack-sharp details, vibrant colours and high-fidelity stereo sound. The improved full-time autofocus will keep moving subjects sharp. And, the advanced Picture Controls like Flat and Clarity make it easier to perfect your movies in post-production.
Get creative
The Nikon camera take your creativity to the next level with the option to retouch images, make a scene and generally express more via a range of modes and controls. What’s more, you can even take a series of photos at fixed intervals which can be combined into captivating time-lapse sequences.
Strong structure
Small, lightweight and durable, the D5500 has a monocoque structure which means that the exterior serves as a frame that protects the internal structure with great strength. The ergonomic design and deep grip is comfortable and stable to use with the easy-to-use controls which will have you shooting pictures in no time.
Easy shooting
The D5500 makes it easy to take great photos and videos thanks to Nikon’s Innovative Scene Recognition System which uses information from the camera’s 2,016-pixel RGB sensor and image sensor, to analyze the brightness and colour of a scene. The system then compares your shots to a database of thousands of similar shots, and then optimizes the camera settings – white balance, focus tracking, flash information and more – to ensure you get optimal results.
