After your appointment
Once you’ve decided on your flooring and chosen to go with our fitting service, all you need to do is accept your estimate and we’ll take payment and prepare your flooring order.
When your order is ready, we’ll agree a time with you for one of our approved fitters to complete the work.
What's included in our service
All our installations come with a 2-year guarantee for peace of mind. We also carefully select and approve our 3rd party Fitters by assessing their previous installations, experience and accreditation.
FAQs
Do you offer estimating appointments in the evening and weekends?
Yes, but not nationwide, so please ask in store or use the online booking system to view availability.
How long will the appointment take?
Appointments will vary depending on the product and the number of rooms, but our online booking tool will give you a good indication.
Why do I need to select products and materials before the appointment?
In order for the estimator to provide an accurate estimate we need to ensure you have narrowed down your choice to 2-3 options at most.
Please be aware that we can only supply and fit flooring based on our estimator's measurements, and not by yours or those supplied by anyone else.
Why do you need the area to be ready for fitting before my appointment?
If you are planning any building or redecoration work, any changes could affect the measurements and final cost. Skirting boards and flooring should be in place for example.
How can I cancel or amend my appointment?
Call the shop which arranged your appointment or, if you booked online, login to “My account” and go to “Your Appointments.” We would appreciate as much notice as possible.
If you cancel your fitting appointment with less than 3 days' notice, we reserve the right to charge a cancellation fee of £150.
How will you confirm the appointment?
You’ll receive a confirmation email once you’ve booked your appointment. You’ll then receive a call from the estimator on the day.
How do I order flooring samples?
Ask a Partner in store or browse online.
How can you help me get my room/s ready for fitting?
Your estimator will talk through our additional services with you, and if you choose to use them they'll be added to your estimate.
If we're moving furniture for you, you'll need to remove and pack away any contents in drawers or cupboards prior to the fitting date. We won't disassemble furniture for you, so any complete furniture we do move is at your own risk.
We're sorry that we can’t disconnect or reconnect electrical items.
We can trim doors, but we cannot ease fire doors, hollow doors, front doors and generally any door leading to the outside of your property.
We'll also make sure that your old flooring is disposed of responsibly if you pay for that service.
Can you fit products purchased elsewhere?
Our services are only available when you’ve purchased the products from John Lewis & Partners, and through an estimator. We're also unable to supply and fit flooring to your measurements; you need to use our estimating service.
What is the installation guarantee?
We carefully select and approve the third party Fitters we work with by assessing their previous installations, experience and accreditation. We’ll guarantee the work carried out by our Fitters for 2 years, giving you complete peace of mind.

FAQs
I’ve already placed my order with John Lewis, what do I need to do?
If we’ve already agreed your project, you don’t need to do anything, and it will continue as agreed. Whether completed by John Lewis or The Floor Room, you’ll have the reassurance that it’ll be completed to the high standards you expect.
When will my local branch get its new The Floor Room concession?
We expect new concessions will be fitted in our branches between July and November 2023. Until then, you can continue to purchase fitted flooring through John Lewis as usual, and our Partners will be happy to help.
Does this impact other John Lewis Home Services?
Our kitchen installation and window dressing (curtains, blinds and shutters) services are still available to customers.
What’s the process for me buying through The Floor Room in future?
The Floor Room will have exciting new concessions in all 34 John Lewis branches where we currently offer fitted flooring. Customers will be able to visit them in person, or set up an appointment online. Their expert team will be on hand to help you every step of the way - with more choice and an ever smoother, quicker service than before.
