Step 1: Decide on what kind of appointment you would like.

We offer an appointment with one of our expert estimators through our virtual service, which can be done via video call or a phone call. To keep our customers and Partners safe we can carry out the appointment virtually to understand your needs without the need to visit you at home.

If you are looking for design advice then we can support you with this too. Perhaps you are restyling a room or parts of your home, or simply in need of some inspiration,  then you may want to consider our Home Design service. Our Home Design stylists can advise on solutions for fabric choices, home decor styling, use of colours, soft furnishings and accessories.

Step 2: What is included in the appointment?

For in-home appointments, one of our estimators will visit you at home, usually within 5 days and will provide you with a no-obligation quote that includes:

  • Measuring is completed by the estimator
  • The price of your flooring choice 
  • The cost of fitting by us
  • Any floor preparation which needs to happen
  • The price of any additional services, including clearing and replacing rooms of furniture, taking up and disposing of your old flooring.

If you opt for our virtual appointment, you will:

  • Receive a video or phone call appointment with one of our estimators
  • Be guided on how to measure your room
  • Be given a guide price over the phone, using the cost of product choice and any requested cost of fitting.  
  • And if you decide to proceed, the estimator will provide you with a no-obligation quote within 24 hours, which will include the cost of any additional services.  
Step 3: Creating your estimate
If you’ve decided to go ahead and use our fitting service then once you've accepted your estimate, we'll take payment and order your flooring. When your order is in, we will book a  convenient time for one of our approved fitters to carry out the work in your home.

Do you offer estimating appointments in the evening and weekends?

Yes, but not nationwide, so please ask in store or use the online booking system to view availability.

How long will the appointment take?

Appointments will vary depending on the product and the number of rooms, but our online booking tool will give you a good indication.

Why do I need to select products and materials before the appointment?

In order for the estimator to provide an accurate estimate we need to ensure you have narrowed down your choice to 2-3 options at most.

Please be aware that we can only supply and fit flooring based on our estimator's measurements, and not by yours or those supplied by anyone else.

Why do you need the area to be ready for fitting before my appointment?

If you are planning any building or redecoration work, any changes could affect the measurements and final cost. Skirting boards and flooring should be in place for example.

How can I cancel or amend my appointment?

Call the shop which arranged your appointment or, if you booked online, login to “My account” and go to “Your Appointments.”  We would would appreciate as much notice as possible.

If you cancel your fitting appointment with less than 3 days' notice, we reserve the right to charge a cancellation fee of £150.

How will you confirm the appointment?

You’ll receive a confirmation email and/or text once you’ve booked your appointment. You’ll then receive a text reminder two days before and a call from the estimator on the day.

How do I order flooring samples?

Ask a Partner in store or browse online.

How can you help me get my room/s ready for fitting?

Your estimator will talk through our additional services with you, and if you choose to use them they'll be added to your estimate.

If we're moving furniture for you, you'll need to remove and pack away any contents in drawers or cupboards prior to the fitting date. We won't disassemble furniture for you, so any complete furniture we do move is at your own risk. 

We're sorry that we can’t disconnect or reconnect electrical items.

We can trim doors, but we cannot ease fire doors, hollow doors, front doors and generally any door leading to the outside of your property.

We'll also make sure that your old flooring is disposed of responsibly if you pay for that service.

Can you fit products purchased elsewhere?

Our services are only available when you’ve purchased the products from John Lewis & Partners, and through an estimator. We're also unable to supply and fit flooring to your measurements; you need to use our estimating service.

How does Never Knowingly Undersold apply to fitting or installation services?

We will consider lowering the combined price of the product and the service, but only if a competitor’s installation service is comparable in terms of quality. We compare the scope of the workmanship, the quality of the materials used, the timescale for completing the work and the accreditation of the fitters.

What is the installation guarantee?

We carefully select and approve the third party Fitters we work with by assessing their previous installations, experience and accreditation. We’ll guarantee the work carried out by our Fitters for 2 years, giving you complete peace of mind.
