The Parker Pen Company was founded by George Stafford Parker in 1888 in Wisconsin, who’d previously been a salesman for another pen company. One of his first patents was for his ‘Lucky Curve’ feed, which claimed to draw excess ink back into the pen. Much more famous, however, was his ‘Quink’ ink, a quick-drying ink which removed the need for blotting paper.

The company soon began to dominate the pen market and expanded its manufacturing internationally and in 1987 moved its headquarters to Newhaven in East Sussex, where it remained until 2013, before transferring to Nantes, France.
