Protected by a cast iron grill, the hob's extraction system allows the entire surface to appear completely seamless, while pans can be moved freely between positions. They've even managed to squeeze in an AquaProof engine and two liquid collectors, so it's easy to clean, and it catches accidental spillages without damaging the electrics.

What's an induction hob?
Think of an induction hob as a more modern, efficient version of an electric hob. Cleverly generating heat using strong electrical currents beneath the surface, the top only generates heat when pans come into direct contact with the specific cooking zone. You'll benefit from lower energy bills, more control over temperature when cooking, a safer kitchen and quicker clean-up afterwards.

Precise control
Induction allows for precise temperature control when doing intricate cooking or simmering, for example. Heat is only generated when the pan comes into direct contact with the specific cooking zone, ensuring safety in the presence of children. This helps optimise power consumption, only using the energy needed to heat the pan itself.

Multizone cooking
With Multizone operation, the cooking zones can be used as two independent cooking zones or combined into a single zone. Each zone automatically adapts to the size and position of the dishes and is heated only where the pans are located, providing better heat distribution.

Safety First
If you've got little ones running around the kitchen (or you're just a bit clumsy yourself), don't worry about any happy accidents. Smeg has fitted the hob with a control lock and residual heat indicator to ensure you never accidentally put your hands or objects on warm surfaces.
