Susan Caplan Pre-Loved Chanel Quilted Bag Pendant Necklace

This style features a quilted handbag hanging from a twisted chain necklace. It is secured with a spring ring clasp.

Chanel's quilting detail was inspired by the puffy jackets worn by the horse breeders at her lover Captain Arthur Edward "Boy" Capel`s stables. It was first seen on her 2.55 handbag which was created in February 1955 and the quilted detail so often seen on her Chanel jewellery was introduced in the 80`s under the helm of Victoire De Castellane.

According to the fashion house, Coco Chanel designed the famous logo herself in 1925, finding inspiration from the geometric patterns of stained-glass windows of a chapel in Aubazine, a monastery where Chanel grew up and spent most of her childhood.
