Karl Lagerfeld joined the House of Chanel as Artistic Director in 1983. While Gabrielle Chanel designed the original interlocking CC logo, it was Karl Lagerfeld who created the iconic interlocking CC closure, the Turn lock, on handbags and jewellery.
