A natural, dewy effect is always a winner for summer. Partner & Make-up Artist, Jesse Walker, takes us through a perfect holiday look

Sunkissed base

When holidaying somewhere warm, you’re unlikely to gravitate towards a thick, full-coverage foundation. For this look, Jesse uses CHANEL Les Beiges Healthy Glow Foundation SPF 25. This featherweight formula contains kalanchoe extract, an antioxidant-rich botonical, as well as UV protection - perfect for when you're on holiday.

When choosing an application method, Jesse says you should ‘consider the finish you are looking for. Generally, a sponge will give you more coverage, while using your fingers or a buffing brush will create a sheer, second-skin effect.’ As this look is more natural, Jesse uses a soft bristle brush to buff the tint into the skin.

Over the top, Jesse applies Tom Ford’s Soleil Glow Bronzer – she recommends ‘sweeping it horizontally over the cheeks and nose, then dabbing a small amount on the top of the forehead and chin’.

Eyes and lips

Jesse pairs this radiant base with a warm, russet take on a smokey eye. Using the two darkest shades from the Lancôme Hypnôse Palette, Jesse applies the lighter shade towards the inside of the eye, then blends the darker shade into the outer corners and lower lash line.

When choosing a holiday-appropriate lipstick, Jesse recommends opting for a low-maintenance formula that won’t require a mirror for touch-ups. For this look, she uses Giorgio Armani’s Colour Sketcher, which she says is ‘great for on-the-go top-ups – the crayon tip and neutral hue mean you don’t need to worry about being too precise with your application.’

Finishing touches

No holiday make-up look is complete without a hint of shimmer. Here, Jesse uses the Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Highlighter from BECCA in Champagne Pop. This bestselling shade has a soft, golden finish that mimics sunlight hitting the skin.

Jesse recommends applying it to the top of the cheeks, inner corner of the eyes and Cupid’s bow. She explains that ‘using a smaller, angled brush allows you to be precise and really work the product into the skin. You should be left with a “glass-like” finish, rather than one that’s too shimmery or sparkly.’

To set the look, Jesse uses the Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray. She says that ‘using this mist instead of powder means you can ensure the longevity of your make-up, while still maintaining a glowing effect’. If you’re prone to shine, particularly in the heat, Jesse suggests using blotting papers: 'They’re a great way to keep your make-up looking fresh, without adding any additional product.'
