The iconic British brand is back. These are the looks our fashion director Rachel Morgans loves.
It’s official: Topshop and Topman have returned to the high street and taken up residence in our stores (as well as online, of course). Rachel Morgans, director of fashion at John Lewis, says, “There’s always been a buzz around Topshop – it’s a brand where fashion feels fearless, fun and fast-paced. There’s an energy to it, an originality. London style, but loved by the world.” Read on for Rachel’s picks of the new-season collection.
“Topshop is the brand to trust for denim shapes and this neutral look – with the clean, tailored trench in stone and double-layered sleeveless tunic top in ivory – is considered and elegant. The barrel-leg trend has been our best-selling shape for over a year, as it’s incredibly flattering. The finishing touch is a chocolate-brown bag; you can’t go wrong with a big tote to throw everything in.”
“This look is a perfect example of Topshop – effortlessly modern, yet wearable. A bomber is a key silhouette for spring, offering perfect transitional-weather style. Plus, as suede continues to be a key material this year, and buttermilk [a buttery yellow hue] a core colour, together this bomber and shirt are on point. Oversized statement earrings add extra volume, extra texture, extra everything.”
“The funnel neck is the silhouette of the moment. Chic and warming, it’s influenced by the ’90s and adds interest to the outfit. Of course, Topshop’s khaki dress is incredibly wearable, and its volume is balanced by second-skin black boots. The finishing touch? A pair of oversized shades and earrings. Because, with this look, the bigger the better.”
