Show your appreciation with a thoughtful end-of-term present that they’ll actually love
Making it to the end of a school year is a slog for most parents, so imagine how the teachers must feel. Say a big thank you with a gift for your teacher that’s guaranteed to put a smile on their face. Team up with other parents to give a John Lewis gift card, an indulgent hamper or a bouquet of flowers or, if you want to go solo, here are the very best end-of-term presents.
Pampering and self-care gifts
For a proper post-term de-stress, think about whether they’re more into relaxing candles or a lose-yourself LEGO build.
Indulgent treats
Food and drink gifts never fail to delight and flowers are always a good idea. Check out Waitrose for more inspiring foodie gift ideas.
Stylish desk essentials and stationery
Every teacher has to be super-organised, and luxury versions of essentials – such as notebooks and pens – will help them prepare for the term ahead.
Finishing touches
What do teachers actually want for an end-of-term gift? A heartfelt, handwritten note from their student – so don’t forget the all important thank-you card.
Gifts for teachers: FAQs
How much should you spend on a thank-you gift for a teacher?
There is no expectation to spend heavily. A contribution of around £5 towards a collective class gift, or between £5 to £10 for individual presents, is a good guideline.
How many teachers should I buy for?
You should only buy for your child's main classroom teacher and their primary Teaching Assistant (TA). You are absolutely not expected to buy gifts for every staff member.
Is it ok to give a teacher alcohol as a thank-you gift?
It is acceptable, but it comes with risks as not everyone drinks alcohol. If in any doubt, a gift card is a great alternative.
