Why do we care
Around 105,000 children are in care across the UK, each with their own talents, strengths and aspirations. Yet care-experienced people don't always have access to the same opportunities and support as their peers. We want to help change that.
How we're helping
We launched Building Happier Futures in 2022, with a tailored employability programme to champion the talents and ambitions of care-experienced people. Since then, we've continued to grow our work, collaborating with others to open doors and create positive change alongside the care-experienced community.

Made by Care
Made by Care is the Partnership’s ‘giftable’ brand that works with and for the benefit of care-experienced people. It’s called MxC (Made by Care) because it’s a brand built from products designed by care-experienced talent. It is made through collaboration to celebrate care-experienced stories and reflect the community that made it.
This year's designer, Peter, is a British designer based in Scotland whose work is informed by the surrounding landscape. His collection, Foldscape, explores the idea of “quiet transformation”: how form, in both landscape and human experience, is shaped over time. Just as land is continually shaped by accumulation, pressure and duration, his work explores how people, too, are always in a state of becoming. Foldscape expresses the belief that even subtle changes can create strength, beauty and new possibilities, reflecting the potential of care-experienced people to be shaped by their past and still shape their own futures.
John Lewis plc will donate 25% of the purchase price of each MxC product to our charity partner Action for Children, helping to build supportive communities for care-experienced children and ensuring they have someone by their side when they need it most.
