If you’re looking for makeup that never looks like makeup, Erborian’s CC Crème is for you. The much-loved product from the cult Korean brand gives just enough glowy coverage, while also helping to blur the skin’s texture and imperfections. Plus, it’s packed with complexion-enhancing ingredients. Perfection! How can you improve on that?
Well, the brand is willing to try: it’s just released a new formula boosted with more active ingredients. Existing fans needn’t worry though – the coverage and texture remain exactly the same. Plus, the tube is now recyclable. I put it through its paces to find out just how easy it is to use, and how long it lasts over the course of a sunny 12-hour day in London.
What makes Erborian CC Crème so special?
This multitasking must-have is half makeup, half skincare and – as well as promising to reduce redness and boost radiance – it also packs SPF 30 into the formula (apart from in Shade Rich). No wonder one is sold every 12 seconds.
How do you apply Erborian CC Crème?
While I love makeup, I like a low-maintenance routine day-to-day. Due to chronic lack of time management, I have approximately ten minutes to rummage through my makeup bag in the morning, so a slick and simple routine is key.
If, like me, you haven’t quite located your inner makeup artist, you’ll be thrilled to hear that the Erborian CC Crème can, in fact, be applied with your fingers. Actually, the brand recommends it. The unique formula comes out of the tube white like a moisturiser, but you can see the colour develop as you work it into your skin – massaging outwards from the centre of your face. Depending on your skin type and needs, you can use the CC Crème either after or instead of your usual day cream. (Note: if you have dry skin, Erborian recommends applying a moisturiser before using this particular product).
I used this CC Crème (in shade Clair) as a base, patting it on and gently massaging it in with my fingers as if applying a moisturiser (as directed by the brand). I then followed it with the rest of my usual routine: a dusting of bronzer, some blush, plus a little mascara and brow gel.
How long does Erborian CC Crème last?
As you can see, it held up incredibly well. Despite it being a light coverage makeup product on a sweltering 30-degree day, it stayed on and felt comfortable and hydrating all day long – with no touch-ups required.
Does Erborian CC Crème contain any skincare ingredients?
Yes, it contains 2% Korean Centella Asiatica, known for its soothing properties, and hyaluronic acid, which means the formula provides 24hr hydration. Plus it contains SPF 30 – formerly SPF 25 – apart from Shade Rich, which does not contain SPF.
Now that I’ve been using it for a few weeks, I’ve noticed that it’s improved my skin texture even when I’m not wearing makeup; I often get redness around my nose and mouth, but that’s visibly lessened since I started using this CC Cream.
