Tried & Tested
On trial: Stokke® YOYO³ stroller
The new Stokke® YOYO³ stroller is the perfect pushchair all year around
As a mum of three I’ve been through my fair share of pushchairs in the past decade. It’s truly hard to find one that is compact enough to fit in our tiny terrace house, while also being sturdy enough to be slung in the back of the car and pushed through the woodlands near where we live.
Needless to say, I jumped at the chance to road test the new YOYO³. Would the lightweight yet sturdy, super-manoeuvrable pushchair with reflecting wheels live up to the hype? Spoiler: it’s a hard yes.
What is the Stokke® YOYO³ stroller?
The latest addition to the YOYO family, this versatile stroller has been designed to grow with your child, from birth to toddler. Sturdy and easy to manoeuvre, it promises a really comfortable ride for your child.
I tested the YOYO³ stroller – suitable for children from 6-months-old – for my nearly 2-year-old.
It offers double the agility and ingenuity of previous iterations, while retaining its signature folding and unfolding mechanism. It’s so compact it can be stored in the smallest space at home and, should your toddler decide they want to have a walk, there’s a really handy carry strap so you can throw it over your shoulder.
The stroller comes in a chic range of colours including Olive, Aqua, Black, Ginger, Stone, Taupe and Toffee (we had the Olive shade). There are also plenty of accessories on offer, from parasols and mittens to skis and raincovers, which means you can really personalise the YOYO³ to your own tastes and customise it for every season. They've also teamed up with Bonpoint and Air France to create two permanent collaboration super-chic colourways in the range.
Better still, the stroller is small enough to be considered hand-luggage and has been approved by nearly all airlines as suitable storing in the overhead locker on a plane – ideal for those upcoming summer holiday trips.
What makes the Stokke® YOYO³ stroller special?
For me it’s the ease of the push – it’s effortless even on more difficult terrain. We live on a high street but also have the woods behind our house; initially I thought the wheels would only be good for the street, however the stroller has proven time and again that it is suitable for all terrains.
I love that you can lower the seat right back to nearly lie flat while still being safe for your baby and also appreciate that the extendable anti-UV canopy covers more of the seat than other pushchairs – both make nap times so much easier. Its closeable peek-a-boo window also allows you to keep an eye on your child while still protecting them from strong sunlight.
How easy is the Stokke® YOYO³ stroller to use?
Once it’s unboxed and clicked together you’re good to go. We found the set-up a little tricky but, thankfully, there are really useful videos on the Stokke website.
This is everything included with your stroller:
- Canopy
- 5-point harness
- 1 x six-month seat base
- 1 x six-month canopy wires
- 1 x stroller frame
- 1 x protective bag
- 1 x shopping basket
- 1 x reversible backrest
- 1 x carrying strap
- 1 x seat pad
Is the Stokke® YOYO³ stroller worth it?
Honestly it’s a big yes. The price tag reflects the safety, comfort and convenience of the new model, which retains all the best elements of previous iterations.
I love how easy it is to push (even with a heavy toddler in it), how quickly you can collapse it down and how comfortable my daughter looks in the seat – which feels particularly safe thanks to the sturdy harness. But the best part? The huge basket underneath, which makes the weekly shop a breeze.
If you’re looking to invest in a new stroller, this is the one for you.
