We run regular checks and automatically change our prices if a competitor sells the same item at a better price. See the full list of who we match with
If you do find a better price for an item you’ve already bought, you can fill out our form to request a refund for the difference.
As long as your price match is eligible, we'll arrange a refund for the difference to your original payment method.
We price match for purchases made in our shops and on our website or app. We can also price match before you buy if you visit us in one of our shops. Find your nearest John Lewis
- We'll price match purchases made at John Lewis in the last 7 days. This means 7 days of placing the order, not the delivery/collection. You can request a price promise refund before you've received your item.
- The lower-price item must be identical, including the same make, size, colour and specification.
- It has to be in stock and ready for delivery.
- It can be on a seasonal offer or promotion, but can’t be: reduced to clear, a multi-buy offer, members-only price, flash sale, reduced with a promo code, or an exclusive/trade price.
- It must be sold directly by the retailer. It can’t be a 3rd party or marketplace seller on their website. How to check if it’s sold direct.
- We'll match lower prices from the last 7 days.
We’ll also match our own prices if we’ve since dropped it ourselves up to 7 days after your purchase. When you fill out the form, you’ll need to include a screenshot or photo as proof of where you’ve found the lower price. You'll need to have your original order details ready as well.
Once you’ve submitted the form, we’ll review your request and aim to get back to you within 48 hours. If you qualify for a refund, we’ll arrange a refund to your original payment method. It can then take up to 5 days for your bank to put the money in your account.
If you paid with cash, gift card or voucher in a shop, you need to return to a John Lewis shop to receive your refund.

Price promise terms and conditions
If you find one of our major competitors selling the same item for less on the day you purchase, we’ll match that price by refunding the difference. We’ll even price match for an additional 7 days after your purchase, subject to the following terms and conditions:
1. Items we match: We match identical items: the same make, model, size*, colour, version, and specification, and they have to be in stock online and ready for delivery from our competitor and from us. If there is an additional mandatory charge such as delivery, we take this into account when matching a price. *If a competitor sells different sizes of the same item at different prices, we will match the price for the majority of the sizes.
2. Who we match: We match prices against items sold directly by our 25 major competitors for up to 7 days after you purchase, and we match our own prices for up to 7 days after your purchase too. We do not match prices from other sellers hosted by these retailers, including 3rd party sellers and marketplaces. We will review these competitors from time to time.
a. When price matching Amazon UK we will only match electricals that are sold directly by Amazon, not marketplace or 3rd party sellers. We will match tech, TV and audio, computing and gaming, small and large home appliances, mobile and smart tech, and beauty/dental electronics. We won’t match: lighting (except for Philips Hue smart lighting), electrical toys, baby monitors, sports tech such as large equipment, wellbeing tech such as electric diffusers and LED face masks, or any other non-electrical items sold by Amazon.
b. We do not match these types of sales, offers or special prices:
- Clearance – including reduced to clear, last chance to buy, and final reductions
- Multi-buy offers – including buy one get one free
- Member prices – including member-only deals or loyalty discounts
- Flash sales – including limited-time deals, lightning deals or other prices featuring a countdown clock
- Prices with a voucher code, discount code or group prices, for example student discounts applied
- Exclusive prices, trade prices or obvious pricing errors
c. We don’t match financial services (including but not limited to foreign currency and insurance). We don’t price match in our cafes and restaurants, opticians, or goods and services offered by our third-party partners and concession brands, including but not limited to Nespresso Boutique, Kuoni, Cavendish Clinic, Benugo, Jo Malone, Le Labo, Longchamp, MAC and Monica Vinader. We also do not price match goods bought in Waitrose & Partners stores. We also do not match competitors who are in administration or closing down.
d. We regularly benchmark our prices for installation, disposal, extended warranties and other similar services to ensure they offer great value. We do not, however, match prices on these types of services.
3. How to report a match
a. Before you buy: If you’re buying in one of our shops and have evidence of a price match that we can verify, such as a link to a live website or a screenshot which captures all of the points above, we will match that price subject to our terms. Alternatively, if you are buying online then the quickest way to have your request processed is by completing your purchase and then filling in the online claim form with evidence that we can verify. We will then issue your refund for the difference, subject to our terms and conditions.
b. After you buy: If you have bought an item from John Lewis within the last 7 days and you notice that the price has dropped at one of our 25 major competitors, you can submit a claim for the difference. This must be 7 days of buying, and not delivery/collection. You can submit a claim before you've received your item. You’ll need to complete the online claim form, provide evidence we can verify and have your original receipt as proof of purchase. You can request a price promise refund before your item has been collected or delivered.
c. Receiving your refund: Accepted requests will be refunded the difference via the original payment method. Where cash, gift card or voucher was used for the original purchase, you’ll need to visit your nearest John Lewis store in order to receive your refund.
4. Refunded items: For the avoidance of doubt, we cannot accept any claim made where the item has been returned and/or refunded.
5. Products purchased as part of our Corporate or Business to Business sales channels are exempt from this pricing policy.
6. We retain the right to withhold or reclaim any credit if we suspect any fraudulent activity or that items have been purchased with the intention to resell them for business or trading purposes.
7. We reserve the right to limit the quantity of any one item that a customer seeks to purchase.
8. We reserve the right to amend our terms and conditions from time to time where we consider it necessary to do so.
If you submitted a Price Drop Refund request before 15 October 2024, then we’ll still be processing it in line with the Price Drop Policy. And we still match our own prices with this new price promise, so if we lower our own price up to 7 days after your purchase, you can request a refund and we’ll get back to you.
