VAT receipts & refunds
If you order something from us online, we will include the VAT receipt on your order confirmation email.
If you were signed into your online account when you made the purchase, you can also view the VAT receipt online.
Just go to:
My account > Online orders > Order details
The VAT receipt links will be visible at the top of the page. It can take up to 24 hours after an order has been placed for these links to be visible.
If you still need help please contact our Customer Services Team.
We’re sorry that we can’t deduct VAT when charging for goods. If you're resident in the Channel Islands and qualify for a VAT refund, please contact Customer Services after your goods have been delivered. We'll then credit the amount of VAT charged.
Customers buying products for delivery to a UK address will be charged UK VAT. If you are having goods delivered direct to a shipping agent in the UK but for immediate export, it may be possible to refund the VAT. You must contact our Export department at firstname.lastname@example.org before placing an order. If you make an order without notifying us in advance, the UK VAT on your purchase will not be refunded.
Export facilities & VAT refunds
Goods exported or carried personally out of the country may qualify for a tax refund
Our Export department offers a full range of export facilities and our Partners have considerable expertise in sending consignments all over the world. We'll provide a shipping agent if you wish and deal with the necessary paperwork, as well as process VAT refunds where appropriate.
Please note that we only deliver website orders to selected countries and not everything we sell online is eligible for international delivery. The reasons for this are connected with logistics, legal issues and warranties.
Products affected by such restrictions include electricals, large bulky items, perishables, liquids and flammables.
However, we may still be able to organise a personalised export for you through our specialist service at John Lewis & Partners Oxford Street, where we can:
- consolidate your order for you
- process diplomatic and BFPO sales
- arrange shipment of gift lists for newlyweds moving overseas
- process VAT refunds for you if you live outside the EU
We'll quote for free and when we ship for you, your order will be fully insured. Please note that shipping costs charged by this service will be higher than the cost of delivery offered via the website. If you prefer, we can deliver to your nominated shipper.
