This lively tropical design features the Brugmansia shrub whose large, fragrant, trumpet-shaped flowers have earned it the name of "Angels Trumpets".
Designed in 1913 by Stuart Proverbs, vice-president of The Society of Designers, it marked a new direction at the end of the Arts and Crafts era, when exoticism and colour began to emerge. The pattern was originally produced by GP & J Baker from four sets of 68 hand-blocks and remained in print from these original blocks until the mid-1960s.
