John Lewis Beale Parka Jacket

The Beale jacket is designed to look good but also to function in the worst that British weather can offer. That means lots of thoughtful design features — some obvious, some a bit more under the hood. Bear with us here, we're about to get into some serious details about how this jacket was CREATED FOR REAL LIFE.

The front fastens with mock horn buttons large enough to be easily managed even when wearing gloves, as well as a full-length two-way zipper, concealed by a storm guard. This might seem overkill, but the zip allows for a complete closure to keep out the weather, while the buttons allow for a quicker and more partial closure. This level of control over the closure is an important part of a serious outdoor jacket.

There are six external pockets, with easy-access side entry on the large front pockets to comfort chilly hands. There's also a handy internal, drop-in security pocket.

Up top is an insulated hood, with an internal ribbed collar for extra warmth and to keep out chilly winds. The cuffs are ribbed and recessed, which really helps to lock in the warmth.

In the body, an internal waist drawcord lets you customise the fit and feel, and the coat drops to hip length for extra weather protection. In case of persistent rain, there's an internal storm flap with chin guard.

Lastly, the fabric is water resistant, with recycled polyester down adding warmth and comfort.
