After Bournville School of Art, British artist Sara Hayward MA (RCA) studied painting at the Ruskin School of Drawing & Fine Art, Oxford University, and printmaking at the Royal College of Art, London. Her vibrant, colour-filled paintings principally include still life, seascape, figurative and landscape subject matter. Printmaking informs Sara's painting process, and the layering of vibrant mark-making with a heightened colour palette creates a unique and personal semi-abstract response to her chosen subject matter. She likes to work in series on families of paintings exploring expressive mark-making techniques, as can be seen with her still life genre and Iona-inspired seascapes. At the outset of each new image on paper, Sara is passionate about exploring composition, structure, drawing and spatial devices, with the most successful reworked onto board.
