A digital print of the 1939 painting Market Scene by British painter L. S. Lowry. The scene depicts Pendlebury Market with a busy, swarm of people. Despite the hustle there is a solemn and lonely element to the image. It's presented in a gorgeous stained ash wood frame, which adds that extra quality suitable for your museum artwork. Born in 1887, Laurence Stephen Lowry paintings are most famous for depicting industrial districts, with human figures, in the mid-20th century North England. Many depict Pendlebury, where he lived and worked. He began drawing at the age of 8 and at 15 began attending private painting classes. He studied painting and drawing in the evenings at the Municipal College of Art and at Salford School of Art for 20 years. Despite his unusually long period as an art student, Lowry considered himself to be a self-taught artist. A large collection of his work is at a purpose built gallery at Salford Quays. His first Tate exhibition was held on 26 June 2013.
