What’s an induction hob?

Induction hobs heat the pan not the hob using an electrical current. Induction hobs can heat a pan faster than a traditional gas or electric hob, and are more energy efficient. They’re also easier to clean, as you can wipe the hob shortly after using it. Remember, not all ceramic hobs are induction hobs.

An induction hob can only be used with induction compatible pans. You can use induction kettles (which are faster to boil than normal kettles) with induction hobs. The fine degree of control over the power of the hob is also good for tasks like melting chocolate or making a sauce.

Induction cooking gives almost instant heat and allows you to precisely control the temperature at which you cook. To help you master your culinary skills, the PXV875DV1E Induction Hob from Bosch possesses a range of advanced features for flexible cooking and effective heating, no matter what's on the menu.

DirectSelect Premium touch control gives you direct, simple selection of the desired cooking zone, power and additional functions. With PerfectFry you'll always achieve perfect frying results thanks to the clever automatic temperature control, so no more burning when you forget about your cooking for a minute. What's more, the FlexInduction Zone offers more flexibility by combining the cooking zones into one big zone for placing small pots and large cookware.

When you're in a hurry, PowerBoost provides extra added power, so you can boil 2 litres of water almost three times faster than on a conventional glass-ceramic hob. There's also a timer for all zones which shows how long each one has been in use, and the switch-off function turns off the assigned cooking zone after the set time.

Connecting your smartphone or tablet to the PXV875DV1E allows you to remotely control your cooktop, as well as access a range of additional features such as appliance tutorials and tips, recipe ideas and information on the status of your hob.

As for its design, the PXV875DV1E is sure to add a luxury touch to your kitchen with its ComfortProfil profile that boasts a bevelled front and metal strips on the side.

Please note: there should be a minimum height clearance of 65cm between an electric hob and the cooker hood above it.
