I’m preparing for party season with a timeless dress, my signature scent and a bright red lip
After spending last Christmas pregnant I intend to embrace 2023’s festivities with a renewed sense of vigour. I’m investing in party-approved outfits to see me through every event, from wine with work pals to Christmas Day glam and the New Year’s Eve rave I bought tickets for a year ago and already feel tired about.
Fashion
This season is all about rich hues and textures like sequins, glitter, feathers and tassels. I’ll wear this timeless silver dress with a chunky navy cable-knit jumper and boots for the office and pair it with heels and a smoky eye for a night out. Alternately, investing in stylish separates means I can mix and match with pieces already in my wardrobe to save some cash. This fabulous cape is firmly on my Christmas wish list – a gal can dream.
Beauty
From now until the end of the year it’s acceptable to go a bit wild on the makeup front. Glittery eyes to the office? Sure. A bright red lip for the school drop-off? Mwah, yes. Speaking of which, anyone can wear red lipstick, it’s just about finding the right tone for your skin. This coral one works with my red hair and stays put well into the third cocktail.
I’ve worn Thé Noir 29 every day for years so this purse size version is on my list for spritzing on the go. And if you’re after the perfect gift for yourself or someone you really love you can’t go wrong with a Gucci eyeshadow palette – it mixes shimmery, glittery shadows for all-night partying alongside muted matte tones for sensible days in the office.
Accessories
Anyone who knows me knows how much I feel the cold – most of the time I don’t even realise I’ve muttered the words ‘I’m freezing’ until someone rolls their eyes at the fact that a) the weather is boring and b) the mercury hasn’t fallen below 10 yet. So I’ll be living in this Brora scarf for the foreseeable, matched with thermal tights and these beautiful brown boots – this pair has the perfect heel for stomping through puddles on the dash to work. The last piece of the puzzle is a bag big enough to shove your laptop, gym kit, out-out outfit and party handbag for later – thankfully I’ve found the answer.
