Festival season is approaching, so here’s everything you need to solve your packing problems

Heading to a UK festival but not sure what to pack? Whether you’re heading to Worthy Farm for days of dancing, taking the kids to Camp Bestival or feasting on great food at Wilderness, here’s our edit of the gadgets, clothes, kit and beauty must-haves to enhance your experience, whatever weather is thrown your way.

All-weather shoes

When it comes to festival footwear, comfort is king because you’ll be on your feet all day. Walking sandals are both fash-pack approved and practical. Don’t forgo the wellies, even if the forecast says no rain – this is the UK after all.

Festival outfit ideas

What is a good festival outfit? This is not the time for massive heels or restrictive jeans. Look to looser styles that are easy to layer up or down (especially when getting ready in a tent) and, above all, comfortable. Your look needs to take you from day to night, so pieces must be versatile, such as a great dress. Warning: jumpsuits look great but are not easy to wriggle out of in a Portaloo after dark...

Go-to gadgets

You may be looking forward to spending time in a field away from screens, capturing special moments with an actual camera, but you’ll definitely still need a power bank and a portable speaker. Hot weather predicted? Avoid clammy tent dread with a portable, chargeable fan. You’re welcome.

Beauty must-haves

Pitch a tent and – just like that – your beauty routine is compressed from seven steps to one. These products ensure minimum effort, while still providing maximum impact. And, remember: pack a travel mirror and always wear SPF, even if it’s cloudy.

On-the-go options

You’d be wise to pack a refillable water bottle, especially an insulated one that’ll keep your water (or wine) cool. And we’re not saying you have to take a festival trolley or picnic cooler bag but, if you do, you can thank us later for suggesting it.

Essential accessories

From fuss-free hip bags and colourful sunglasses to good-vibes jewellery, some festival essentials are non-negotiable simply because they take your style (and comfort) up a level. Make sure you have space for an umbrella to keep you smiling, even if your festival experience is a muddy one.

Sleep easy

Even though you only need a tent and sleeping bag for, erm, passing out, you still need camping gear that’s reliable, lightweight and easy to use.
