3 ways to style white jeans in winter
Don’t wait on spring to enjoy the lightest shade of denim in your wardrobe.
White jeans, for winter? Yes, you did read that correctly. While Pimms and tennis feels wrong any time outside the months of May to September, pale denim is go at anytime of year.
‘White jeans feel modern for winter,’ says fashion stylist Lucy Reber, who has found an affinity with wide-legged and high-waisted shapes (‘There are so many ways to style them’) which she’s happy to share here. If you’re not sure which shape suits you, or are bamboozled by the difference between a slim and a straight fit, then you can swot up with our buying guide. Just remember to dodge any puddles.
Try for tonal
Wearing similar shades from the same palette is ‘chic‘, says Lucy. As well as exuding a nonchalant, devil-may-care attitude about what the weather is doing, it’s a look that is on trend and hard to get wrong – for once you don’t need to worry about everything matching. Chances are you already have a biscuit-coloured cable-knit in your wardrobe – and a trench coat – to achieve the look.
Winter whites
If you prefer, though, you can simply slot in white denim into your existing go-to winter outfits. ‘I wear my jeans in a more monochrome way with a dark overcoat, cropped black jumper and converse baseball boots,’ says Lucy. Chunky black boots work well too (sunglasses are optional).
Colour pop
White makes a versatile canvas for sporting mood-boosting colours. How about that powder pink coat you vowed to wear more often? Embrace the look with white sneakers and co-ordinating accessories.
