The French word bouclé meaning 'curled' or 'ringed' refers to the yarn made from a series of looped fibres. Art enthusiasts might theorise that the forms and tones in the design take inspiration from abstract pioneers like Kandinsky; art non-enthusiasts might say it’s just a load of shapes and colours. However you interpret it, the robust wool blend of the rug is hand-tufted, with a subtle variation in finish and texture between the coloured sections.

28. Suited and booted for your first job interview
Super 100 is a measure of how fine the wool is, with a higher number translating to a finer wool which will feel softer. Just because this is a ‘sensible’ suit doesn’t mean it’s stuffy to wear. The 100% merino wool was chosen for all-day comfort, and it’s fully lined in navy.

29. Killing it on the commuteOur designers have dubbed this ‘the daddy of all overcoats’, and with good reason. At 740g in weight, this is a substantial garment that’s in a classic Glen check in a go-anywhere shade of grey; on the inside, a puppytooth weave. Translating to ‘little bag’, sachetto construction creates a shoe that is practically seamless and also super soft and flexible, cocooning the foot like a glove. Inspired by a 1950s handbag found on the shelves of a Parisian vintage shop, this is a little bag that can-can. The finishing touch is a sleek gold-toned turnlock, inspired by a clasp design found in the John Lewis Design Archives.

Job interview confidence guaranteedThis puff-sleeve blouse is made with Birla Livaeco Viscose fibres which are extracted from certified wood sources and produced using a more environmentally responsible process, with lower water consumption. The illustrative paisley and floral print on this dress is inspired by an archival find from 1911, but it nods to the future too in the way it's manufactured.

Chore jackets traditionally employ durable and hardwearing materials: in this case, it’s a 100% dry oil wax designed to take rain showers in its stride. Wax coating is a natural, highly effective way of providing water resistance.
