What is Dyson’s Chi | To | San?
Stop the press - Dyson has launched not one, but two new haircare products, that have been engineered hand-in-hand with their award-winning hair tools to give flexible, all-day hold. There’s a Pre-Style Cream available in four variants so you can choose which works with your hair shape and conditioning preference and a Post-Style Serum suitable for all hair.
What makes Chi | To | San so special?
Dyson is known for its rigorous testing of its products and these were no different. The brand tested each formula against 80% humidity – the most challenging environment when it comes to maintaining a hairstyle.
The powerful key ingredient in all the products is Chitosan, a complex macromolecule derived from oyster mushrooms. The clever folk at Dyson found the optimum percentage for all-day, flexible hold, with natural movement and there are five mushrooms worth in each bottle, which benefit from what Dyson has named Triodetic™ technology.
The products help to condition the hair surface, reducing frizz and giving a soft and shiny finish, while the subtle scents of bergamot, cedarwood, moss and musk make your hair smell incredible.
Which formula is right for you?
The chitosan is blended with different ingredients to create formulas for different hair types, using grapeseed oil for finer hair and coconut oil for a creamier texture for curly hair.

What will Chi | To | San do for your hair?
It’ll make your hairstyle last all day, while also protecting against humidity and stopping frizz in its tracks.
It’s also super easy to use: I used two pumps, gently rubbed between my palms and then smoothed through my hair from the middle of the hair to the tips and dried and styled as usual.
The Verdict
Firstly, I love the texture of this product and that fact it doesn’t leave your hands greasy. The (unisex) packaging is also super chic, with a satisfying magnetic lid, a no nonsense pump which dispenses just the right amount - so you won’t use too much which means the product will last longer - and each full size bottle is refillable to reduce waste.
My hair definitely looks less frizzy and much shinier when I use the Pre-Style cream followed by the Post-Style Cream. My hair felt conditioned but not in that way where your hair feels heavy and lacklustre. I also loved knowing that my hair was protected against humidity which often causes it to frizz - especially on the tube to work or running to the school pickup. Overall, a definite investment that will quickly become part of your daily routine.
