Did you know, LED stands for Light Emitting Diode? Neither did I. Infrared wavelengths are not visible to the human eye, but they go beneath the skin's surface to help keep skin clean, bright and improve the appearance of lines and wrinkles. So it’s no surprise that beauty brands have been working hard in the background to launch LED masks for powerful results at home.
The CryoGlow LED Light Therapy Mask is the latest innovation from bestselling brand Shark (I reviewed their excellent FlexStyle 5-in-1 Air Styler & Hair Dryer earlier this year). Its full name? The Shark CryoGlow Under-Eye Cooling + LED Anti-Ageing & Blemish Repair Mask. Quite a mouthful, but that’s because it's the UK’s first LED light therapy mask to offer under-eye cooling (more on that later).
To see results, you have to use the same routine once a day for 8 weeks. For context, I’m a 32-year-old tester who doesn’t suffer from spots, but I have redness and blemishes – so I tried the Blemish Repair routine. Here’s what happened to my skin.

What is the Shark CryoGlow LED Face Mask?
It’s a light therapy mask that helps depuff under-eyes in minutes and helps reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles over time. It looks scary, but don't worry, it's designed for all skin types and developed with dermatologists.
What I really rate about Shark is the brand's commitment to explanation. Their instructions are truly foolproof ( ‘next step, moisturise’ and ‘you can turn your mask off now’). It’s the little things that beauty gadgets sometimes miss, as brand's wrongly assume we're all tech-savvy shoppers.
How do you use the Shark CryoGlow LED Face Mask?
Charge the mask fully before first use (it can take up to three hours). Start with a clean, dry face – put on the mask and adjust the straps. Next, turn on the mask by pressing and holding the remote’s centre dial. Select a routine, and afterwards remove the mask (it will power down automatically and you can clean it with a damp cloth).

Customised fit: adjustable top and back straps for optimal fit and comfort.
Under-eye chill pads: the InstaChill cold technology helps firm, tighten and soothe under-eyes. There’s also a set of clip-on chill pads for a better fit if the built-in pads don’t touch your face, and you can adjust the level of coldness by pressing the chill (snowflake button on the remote) – as well as turn it off completely.
LED mask design: the shield style provides even LED coverage.
Attached silicone eye shields: for protection and comfort.

The verdict: is it worth buying a Shark CryoGlow LED Face Mask?
Yes. Shark has thought of everything. Comfort, choice of programmes, incredible cooling eye strips, a lasting charge and convenience. A true plus is the fact you can wash your face and then watch TV or read, because unlike other LED masks, it doesn’t disturb your vision (the shield design is distanced from your face). And the programmes are the perfect length to commit to on the daily.
When it comes to results, you can see my skin is noticeably brighter, tighter and blemish free. I've had countless compliments and my confidence is shining through. With this in mind, I feel the price (£269.99), is super competitive compared to other masks on the market (although I haven't tested a more expensive mask, so I can't compare). I will without doubt keep the Shark CryoGlow LED Face Mask in my evening routine and put my best face forward every morning.
