The Shark Power Detect has powerful suction and impressive features like the detect mode, which increases and decreases power depending on what kind of floor surface you're using and what level of suction is required.

The weight and size of the vaccum once folded make it extremely convenient for storage and for being able to access it quickly if you just want to clean up a room rapidly and put it away.

It arrives with a comprehensive kit and a variety of add-ons, from an intelligent head featuring automatic detecting technology to superfine detail attachments that allow you to get into difficult-to-reach places, like your car. It also comes with other specialised heads that allow you to clean areas like the stairs or down the side of the sofa, which is especially useful if you have a pet and need to clean up fur that gets into all sorts of tricky places.

What is the PowerPro Pet Cordless Stick?

The Shark Power Detect is the vacuum you didn’t know you needed. Assembling is effortless and everything clicks into place. The process is highly intuitive thanks to the quick-start assembly instructions so you’re ready to go straight out of the box.

The digital display on the back of the vacuum cleaner is excellent. It gives you a clear indicator of how much battery power is left and which mode you're in. Cycling through those modes is simple, and you get clear feedback when the lights change. The detect mode is incredibly intelligent; when cleaning, you can hear and feel the machine increasing power as you go over areas with more dirt and dust, and decreasing when you're going over clean areas. This feature can optimise battery life. The boost mode is also remarkably powerful, which is perfect if you do have a very dirty floor or need to deep-clean the side of your sofa after a pet. The Eco mode isn't that strong, and if you have a pretty clean floor already it performs adequately, but I normally wouldn't select this for day-to-day use.

What makes the PowerPro Pet so special?

Lots of things but most notably the flexible storage, the battery and emptying the cleaner. Let me expand;

Flex Storage: A tremendously useful feature and ideal for those of us with smaller living spaces. The fact that it folds means it can fit underneath shelves that you might have in shoe cupboards or cabinets underneath work surfaces, for example.

Battery: Connecting the battery couldn’t be easier; it slots in under the handle and adds minimal weight to the whole vacuum cleaner. It's easily maneuverable and simple to carry up and down stairs or move around the house, getting into corners and underneath a bed or chairs; the weight doesn't present an issue. Whilst the battery is light, its lifespan is limited, particularly when using the higher power mode, which probably means this is only suitable for someone who lives in a smaller home.

Emptying: Again, super simple. A single button on the side of the unit opens the bin and releases the debris cleanly. This is a well-designed feature because on many other vacuum cleaners these bin releases can be messy and cause debris to go everywhere, but the Shark Power Detect has a very neat opening. This is also how you access the filter for cleaning.

Is the Shark PowerPro Pet worth it?

Overall, I would say that the Shark Power Detect is a superb vacuum cleaner for someone who lives in a flat or a smaller house where they want to use it for shorter periods and store it in convenient spaces. ★★★★★
