The Recycled Kadai is a beautiful and highly functional barbecue firebowl handmade from recycled mild steel by family-run workshops in India. Hand-cut steel plates are traditionally riveted for strength and durability, giving each Recycled Kadai its distinctive, timeless character.
Designed for true versatility, every Kadai comes with a High Stand for barbecuing and a Low Stand for use as a firebowl, easily switched to suit the moment.
Each firepit is made from recycled steel, meaning the raw material comes from reclaimed steel that has been reprocessed and reused instead of using new (virgin) steel. This helps reduce waste and lowers the environmental impact of production while maintaining the same strength and durability.
This Kadai comes with a Kadai Shield, a useful fire pit cover, handmade from the same reclaimed metal as the Recycled Kadai, with small riveted plates and two sturdy handles. This fire pit cover is specifically designed to keep Kadai Beads dry and ready to use, as well as protecting the Kadai from the elements. Then, when the party is over, use the Shield on the Kadai as a snuffer. Perfect for round fire pits, the cover is a must-have accessory to keep your Kadai in excellent condition.

- Clean Beads regularly for insulation and drainage. Ensure ash is fully cold. Scoop Beads and ash into a Kadai Riddle, sift over a bin, remove debris, and return clean Beads. Brush the base filter clear and cover with the Kadai Shield once cool. Annually, remove Beads, scour off surface oxidisation, then apply a light coat of Owatrol Oil. Wipe off excess and leave 48 hours before use. Do not use Owatrol on cooking accessories; clean grills and finish with vegetable oil.
