The Omorovicza story begins over 2,000 years ago, when the curative properties of the healing waters of Budapest were discovered and the first baths were built.

Hungary’s mineral rich thermal waters have been prized ever since and Budapest has long been known as the international Spa City.

In the 1800s the Omorovicza family built the Rácz Bath in Budapest, on the site of a medieval healing spring renowned for its curative properties.

Two hundred years later, founders Margaret and Stephen de Heinrich de Omorovicza met in the beautiful city of Budapest. Stephen had been drawn there to explore his roots. Margaret, an American, had been brought to the city by a diplomatic posting. Relaxing at the Rácz Bath and other ancient thermal baths, the couple were amazed by the effect the mineral rich healing waters had on their skin and saw their potential to be harnessed in a skincare range. They embarked on a journey to replicate in skincare the effects of the baths on their skin.

Much is already understood about the beneficial effects of thermal waters on bathers. However, the absorption of minerals into the skin presents a significant challenge due to the limited bio-availability of minerals. Working with a Hungarian Nobel-prize winning Laboratory of Dermatology, Margaret and Stephen pioneered and patented a delivery system, Hydro Mineral Transference™, that reconfigures the molecular structure of the minerals in the healing waters and delivers the minerals to the deeper layers of the skin.
