Indoor services
Bedstead assembly
What is this?
When we deliver your new bedstead, we’ll also assemble it for you.

Nursery furniture assembly
What is it?
We can assemble a range of nursery furniture items when we’re delivering them to you

Mattress and divan recycling
What is this?
When we deliver your new mattress or divan, we can collect your old one and dispose of it responsibly.

Clearabee sofa collection service
What is this?

The UK’s largest household furniture and sofa collection company. Their service includes two-person collection, SMS alerts so you can track your collection, and offset of emissions through Clearabee’s three carbon forest projects

The charge for this service starts at £109 for one item and goes up to £309 for five items.

Up to five items are accepted per order. Larger items that come in two pieces, such as corner sofas, count as two items.

Prices are fixed based on the number of items you’d like picked up, so you’ll know exactly what you’re paying before you book.

The service is only available when you buy a sofa or armchair with us.

This is a nationwide sofa collection service, excluding Northern Ireland.
Outdoor services
Outdoor furniture assembly
What is it?
We can assemble a range of outdoor furniture items when we’re delivering them to you

Barbecue assembly prior to delivery
What is this?
We’ll assemble your new barbecue before we deliver it so that you can start cooking straight away.
Need to know

The charge for this service is £75.

If you buy more than one eligible barbecue, you’ll also need to buy the assembly service, you’ll also need to buy the assembly service for each individual item you want us to assemble.

We will build your new barbecue ahead of your delivery, ready to place where you intend it to be situated, and ensure it is level.

We’ll remove and dispose of all packaging for your new barbecue responsibly.

We can only offer the assembly service when your new barbecue is being delivered by our own van crew, and not by our suppliers or third-party couriers.
What you need to do

Ensure there is adequate access for our crews to put the assembled barbecue where required.

If you have purchased a gas barbecue, you will need to complete a gas leakage test before the product’s first use.
What we won’t do
- We will not connect the gas cylinder to your new product
Barbecue disposal
What is it?
When we deliver your new barbecue, we can collect your old one and dispose of it responsibly.
Need to know

The charge for this service is £25

If you buy more than one eligible barbecue, you’ll also need to buy the collection service for each individual item you want us to take away.

We can only offer the disposal service when your new barbecue is being delivered by our own van crews, and not by our suppliers or third-party couriers.
What you need to do

Please disconnect the old barbecue from the gas bottle before the delivery crew arrives, as we are unable to disconnect your gas connection.

Ensure the barbeque is emptied and clean (no food waste, grease, charcoal, wood).
-
Remove any accessories you wish to keep.
-
Provide a clear and unobstructed route to remove the barbecue for disposal.
What we won’t do
-
Remove an existing ceramic barbecue.

Disconnect your gas bottle.
-
Empty or clean your barbecue.
-
Collect any any item that we believe constitutes a health and safety risk to our employees or anyone working on our behalf.
Lighting and wall services
Lighting installation
Need to know
-
The charge for this service is £59 for the first light, and £45 for each additional light

For most items it's only available if you buy your lighting in our shops

We will connect your new light fitting to an existing safe connection. We will have to switch off the mains power at your consumer unit to do this

All our installers are NICEIC-trained (National Inspection Council for Electrical Installation Contracting)

We'll also remove and dispose of the packaging for your new light responsibly
What you need to do
-
Please ensure your new light is of the same electrical classification as your old fitting. If in doubt, Class 2 lights are compatible with both class types and can be safely used. This information can be found under Electrical Classification in the product specifications.

Make sure that you have the correct lightbulbs before our crew arrive, as they do not keep a stock of them.

If the light is for outdoors or for the bathroom you'll need to check the IP (Ingress Protection) rating. The higher the rating, the more protected it is. For outdoor or bathroom lighting you need a minimum IP44 rating. Check the product specification for details.
What we won’t do
-
We're unable to install on circuits with rubber- or lead-sheathed wiring, or onto any surface which poses a potential health and safety risk for our crews (such as textured surface coverings).

We cannot install recessed lights or any light fitting which are more than 3 metres (10 feet) above the ground directly underneath the installation point.

The installation of external lights will be weather dependent.
Picture or mirror hanging service
Need to know
-
The charge for this service is £40 per item to be hung
-
For most items it's only available if you buy your picture or mirror in our shops

Check that the location you wish to hang the product is suitable, scanning for obstacles such as pipes and cables before hanging the product.

If the scan identifies hazards in the chosen location then we will support in identifying a new, suitable location.

We'll also remove and dispose of the packaging for your new light responsibly
What you need to do
- Decide where you wish the product to be hung. Be aware that if there are cables or pipes in the wall then you will need to select another location.
What we won’t do
-
Please be aware we will have to drill holes, meaning there may be a small amount of decor damage that we will not be able to repair nor be liable for.

We will not hang products not purchased from John Lewis & Partners, or where we believe the wall type, location, or fixings may not be safe.
