As the sun starts to shine, we put the brand new BBQ grill to the test

In typical British fashion the glimpses of sunshine and blue skies we’ve been seeing lately have got me dreaming of warmer summer days in the garden. My mind immediately gets excited about hosting friends and family for alfresco lunches-which lets face it always has to involve some level of grilled food.

In preparation for the summer season I tested the Weber slate GPS6 gas grill, which is perfect for outdoor cooking.

What is the Weber slate GPS6 gas grill?

In typical British fashion the glimpses of sunshine and blue skies we’ve been seeing lately have got me dreaming of warmer summer days in the garden. My mind immediately gets excited about hosting friends and family for alfresco lunches-which lets face it always has to involve some level of grilled food.

In preparation for the summer season I tested the Weber slate GPS6 gas grill, which is perfect for outdoor cooking.

Why is the Weber slate GPS6 gas grill so special?

There are so many great features. Straight out the box I noticed how easy it was to put together, it’s solid and heavy and feels really premium and robust, especially the grill plate which is surprisingly heavy, you can really tell it’s made to last.

Size wise it’s big enough to cook on when hosting for larger groups of people. I’ve particularly enjoyed making smash burgers on it - the lid helping with steaming and getting the cheese nicely melted. The two zone cooking feature is great, enabling me to grill vegetables alongside meats.

The griddle reaches heats of over 260C which means it's great for searing and getting crispy edges plus it also features a precision control knob that enables you to increase or decrease temperatures gradually.

Why do you love it?

The adjustable feet are a simple but useful touch making leveling out easy even on uneven surfaces. There is also a fat drip tray which keeps the grill tidy and makes cleaning up a dream (well as much of a dream cleaning up could be!)

Is it worth it?

Absolutely. The Weber Slate GP56 is a great option if you are looking for an outdoor grill that’s both simple to set up and use, looks and feels premium and delivers a perfect cooking experience. Now I just need the hot weather to arrive and stick around as I can see this being in regular use across the summer. ★★★★★
