The xx were a group of talented young artists from South West London, blending the minimalist touch of Young Marble Giants and early Cure with an R&B influence inspired by artists like Ciara and Aaliyah. Their Mercury Prize-winning debut album is an inspired mix of broken beauty and uplifting moments, filled with melancholic allure. It evokes the suburban disillusionment of Burial's earlier works and the haunting mood of Portishead's Dummy.
