I used this dishwasher when I was in New Zealand earlier this year & thought it was brilliant. Looked for one in the UK & found them available from John Lewis on line. Quite expensive, but I thought the 5 year guarantee made it worth while. Delivery did take 2 weeks but delivered direct from Fisher & Paykel by very helpful guys - I was promised the 1st delivery of the day and got it - at 6.30am, so no waiting in for me! Installation took about half a day as fairly complex to install, but instructions good - just lots of them. Once installed this dishwasher with its stylish brushed steel exterior, is so easy to use. All standard sized plates fit and it has really well thought out racks that can be adjusted in all sorts of ways - eg the plate rack spines can slide to a wider setting so that soup bowels can be stacked like plates. Wine glasses hang from the stem so don't fall over and break. The cutlery basket slots are a bit small for some off my cutlery, but a few snips of the scissors and I had some larger slots - sorted. This dish washer is so quiet you can hardly hear it running. My advice, even if you live alone, is to buy the double dish drawers. I fill one drawer and while that is washing start to fill the other. No need to empty the washed drawer - simply use the clean dishes from it and put them straigh back into the empty drawer. By the time the dirty drawer is full, the clean drawer is empty and ready to be re-filled. It's difficult to get excited about washing up, but I absolutely love this dish washer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by 2380 I love this dishwasher
Now the family have left home I thought the two drawers would be useful for doing smaller washes . . . and they are. It's just perfect for me. However one of the best features is the deep drawers you can load from the top. I find it can take bigger dishes than previous dishwashers and it's much easier to juggle things around. It's also quieter than previous machines.
Only slight niggle is the need to use powder.
However overall it's fantastic . . . and looks so good in my new kitchen.

I saw this in my daughters house in New Zealand, was exceedingly impressed with the design, look and near silent use. Can I get one in the UK? Yes - at John Lewis!!
Delivery was on time - husband installed it in a morning - a bit fiddly, but straightforward, and hey presto - I have the same as my daughter!
Why aren't all dishwashers as good as this?
I am delighted and would strongly recommend this dishwasher as the best available for domestic use.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Disgustedkiwiinlondon Not even worth one star... ashamed Kiwi.
machine broke down in less than a month. 7th September reported the issue (including the Error Code E9-06 which translates to System Controller) got offered the earliest date for someone to take a look 18th Sept... after many phone calls (including one where they informed my that I needed to learn to wash my own dishes when I asked them why I have spent GBP939 pounds on a dishwasher) and they found a slot for me on 10th September... happy days - NOT. the repair man did not turn up with the CORRECT controller (they confirmed that it only takes 24hrs for the correct one to arrive) but according to the customer services team - Matthew - in NZ he has no availability until 28th September!!! oh, even though the technician confirmed (and I have it written on the service sheet) I am fully within my rights to have a replacement machine, but Mathew said in customer services that they would not do that, and they will also not fix it and I should pursue John Lewis for a refund. I am now awaiting another phone call, so no idea what is going on - apart from me learning to wash my own dishes with a very expensive broken dishwasher taking up space in my kitchen. I am disgusted with this New Zealand company and the loyalty I showed them as a kiwi in London. John Lewis needs to reconsider their affiliation and either send me a replacement machine or fix it in a timely manner. Saying this... I am not sure I even want it anymore ....

Rated 1 out of 5 by Vallance second review of this poor machine
we have had nothing but trouble. We wrote a review when we first bought it 18 months or so ago when it didn't work, we had endless difficulty getting through to the help line and eventually after various "repairs" had it replaced. That review has now gone from this site but it is time to write another. Exactly the same problems with the new machine and now a leak. This has been a very disappointing purchase with poor customer service. Maybe we have been unlucky but I would caution strongly against buying this machine

We were excited about buying this dishwasher (if dishwashers can be exciting), but in the first month of ownership it has been out of service more than it has worked. The first engineer claimed to have fixed it but on the first wash after he left it broke again. It has now been 10 more days of washing up by hand for a busy family and hours spent on customer help lines, no one calls you back, spare parts forgotten to be ordered etc. Surely with a machine this new (and this expensive) they should just replace it - no questions asked. I definitely do not recommend this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by LastMinuteDotMum I'm in love with my dishwasher!
We've had this for a month and absolutely love it. It looks fantastic, washes well and is extremely quiet, in an efficient way (the guy who fitted it for me said the drawer locks are powered by the same motors BMW use on their electric windows!).
It is great having 2 drawers which you stack/run independently - you can run it after every meal, rather than having to wait for one full load; you can wash pans in one and glasses in the other; you can kick it off after the first course of a dinner party. And you don't end up with dirty dishes cluttering up your work top while your machine is running - just pop them win the other drawer.
The top drawer is at waist height, so we tend to use it most as you don't need to bend down to load/unload it.
Stacking the drawers is something of an art form. Each has one jet (underneath) so the instructions come with lots of examples and pictures of how to stack efficiently so everything gets clean - this includes being able to move cup holders up and down and fold down plate racks. This hasn't been a problem for us so far but I do sometimes re-stack what my husband's thrown in higgledy piggledy (I deny being a contol freak...it's more about applying the aesthetic pleasure of completing a tricky jigsaw puzzle...).
And it doesn't take our largest dinner plates...but then neither did our previous dishwasher.
Would I recommend it? Despite the price tag, wholeheartedly yes. And with a big smile.

Rated 5 out of 5 by MervynG At last a good design
Previous machine blocked twice a year due to poor design. Desperately needed some vorsprung durch technik. Have watched the evolution of dishdrawers with interest as the design seems good. In 2010 reports said they had energy & water usage issues & some made them sound like Marmite - loved or hated.
However, version 7 seems to have resolved any lingering technical issues & this is now underwritten by a manufacturer's 5 year parts & labour warranty.
I decided to fit it myself & it took a little longer than old fashioned door models. The sides top & back are not for display & it is best positioned in a tight slot as the machine external edges all round have a rubber seal which presumably helps keep the noise in & debris from splashing a couple inches into the side & top gaps between the machine & any cabinet/worktop. It wouldn't look too good on the end of a row of units as far as I can see but maybe there's a model that does. The electrical connection had a plug which I had to remove as we have a remotely switched fused spur. The water supply is normal. There are two drain pipes that combine near your sink with a supplied 'Y' piece & it seems to need to have an upside down 'U' fitted quite high en route to your to prevent water running out freely to the sink drain spigot. Because the machine's centre of gravity would cause it to tip forward if two full drawers were opened together, it is screwed to the sides (and optionally worktop) of the adjacent cabinetry. This requires the lower drawer to be removed temporarily whilst you screw four supplied screws from inside the machine to the sides of your adjacent cabinets. None of this is too challenging. The end result is an incredibly stable, tidy machine.
There are programmable options for salt, rinse aid, door lock, child lock, audible warnings etc.
Performance so far stunning & quiet & MOST IMPORTANTLY we have 2 dishwashers and NO clutter on the worktop awaiting its turn. Fantastic design.
