His hat rewards baby with a crinkling sound, while each tentacle has a soothing knot and clacking rings. He comes complete with a small hoop so he can be attached to a pushchair, cot or infant carrier.

Brilliant toy I was given this as a gift when my son was born. As he got to about 12 weeks he could grasp it and the octopus legs are just the right size for little hands to hold and squeeze. The bright colours, the teething rings, the crackling fabrics and the grasp-ability all make this a great toy for tiny ones. Now he's a little older and it keeps him amused for hours in the buggy whenever we go somewhere. He likes it so much I bought another Lamaze toy for him! 15 January 2013

Very colourful! Very bright and eye-catching colours; pleasing selection of sounds and textures; a hidden mirror too. Adults certainly react with a smile; baby is still too young to appreciate him! One small complaint: the stitching on the loop that holds the plastic hanging ring came undone. 29 September 2012

Nice toy but it's an octopus not a calamari! The toy itself is brilliant but Captain Calamari only has 8 arms. A calamari (squid) is supposed to have 10 tentacles! 20 November 2011

We all love our captain calamari! A wonderful interactive toy. Very good quality so reassuring to moms! A long lived toy as little ones discover new features as they grow and develop. My little 5 month old baby loves the captain! One of my favourite toys. I am a Lamaze fan. More sophisticated that other Lamaze toys. Would highly recommend to anyone with a baby or toddler. We call him "capi" or "Sid squid" for short! 07 July 2011

Keeps my little guy entertained - good value for money I bought the Lamaze Play and Grow Captain Calamari for my 12 week old son - it was an instant hit and is still at 8 months. It keeps him entertained when out and about in the pram and also when he was much younger on his bouncing chair. As he is teething at the mo he likes to chew on the rings and when he was younger he liked all the different colour and textures of the legs. 14 June 2011
