Q & As

Bosch TDA5621GB Power Plus Steam Iron, Black 3.9 5 35 35
Really Unstable There are two real design flaws with this iron - 1. It seems to run out of water really quickly - I can iron two or three shirts maximum before refilling it. 2. This is the more worrying, it's dangerously unstable on the base. It has toppled off the ironing board twice due to the cable getting caught round the base as it was set down. If it hadn't cost so much I'd have got rid of it some time ago. 11 August 2014
Sturdy German Engineering :D This Iron has a good solid feel about it, its quite weighty, so you feel like there is some power behind your ironing!! The non stick plate makes it harder to melt clothes onto it ..and I have ruined numerous irons doing this! A month in and its still clean!! Its got a nice long power cord too! Only downsides; 1. It generates lots of steam in maximum steam mode, but you have to refill the water tank all the time. 2. The receptacle provided to fill the water tank does no fill it up, so even MORE trips to the tap! Other than that I love it 29 July 2014
Very disapointed Have had this Iron for approx 16 months and have never liked it. I always seem to manage to burn myself as the steam shoots out the side of the bottom plate, the water needs refilling constantly, and now it's started tripping the electric off evertime we use it. Don't be fooled by its Bosch label and good looks. 30 June 2014
Good for everyday ironing Bought this a while back to replace a Phillips iron that packed up within the first year. (No quibbles from JL, replaced straight away under guarantee). Never used Bosch before but pleased with performance so far. We live in a very hard water area and this iron seems to cope well, as it's easy to use the power clean function after each ironing session. Only draw back is that it's tricky to refill - have to get the angle and water flow just right to avoid spilling water all over the ironing board! 17 August 2013
Very unsteady The main problems with this iron are; 1) it is very unsteady when stood on the base plate. After a couple of near misses and catches the flimsy plastic plate has snapped and now it wont stand up at all. 2) I am forever filling the water tank; it seems to produce too much steam. 3) It's extremely noisy, crackling and hissing constantly. 07 August 2013
Bosch steam iron Power Plus My second Bosch has just stopped dead after less than 6 months. I had given Bosch a second chance, based on our Bosch washing machine that lasted 20 years without a problem. The first iron tripped the house fuse box regularly and burnt out a socket. Don't ever buy a Bosch iron. I wish I'd read the reviews first: they mostly say the same thing. 30 May 2013
Any Old Iron We bought this on the strength of the Bosch brand but feel pretty let down. It irons well but for best performance it feels as if you are filling up the water tank every 30 seconds. We have replaced it as it is very unstable when stood on it's base and we had a few too many near misses in the 3 weeks we had it. The temperature gauge falling off meant we consigned it to the bin. 06 May 2013
unsure about this iron expected more for such a premier brand and price tag. not particularly smooth, i've had irons at less than half the price that feel smoother constant refills are a pain, constant steam generation/spitting is a pain. cant get the setting adjusted to prevent this. it seems to be full blast or not enough steam generation no better than my previous and much cheaper iron cant leave iron on its end and the cord winder thingy makes the iron pretty unstable. was considering exchanging it for an other bosch model without the cord winder thing, but that appears to have problems also due to filling from the base 3 stars is pretty generous 21 April 2013
