  • Abour John Lewis Newcastle

Steeped in history, John Lewis Newcastle began its days known as Bainbridge (some of the locals still call it this) in 1838.

Seeing generations of managers, staff and apprentices come and go, as well as surviving a war, it’s now located in Eldon Square and proudly sits within a bustling shopping centre.

You simply place your online order by 7pm today, and we'll deliver it to your chosen shop for you to collect after 2pm tomorrow. This service is available from all John Lewis shops, and in an increasing number of selected Waitrose branches.

The service is available for most but not all of the items we sell, so please check individual product pages when you place an order. We're unable to accept orders that include items for collection from one of our shops as well as items for delivery, so in these cases, please place two separate orders – one for collection and one for delivery.

Join us for Story Time

Storytelling is one of the first things that a parent will share with their child, and it’s something many of us take for granted. However, for the parents of some of the UK’s most vulnerable children, the first years of their child’s life can be a bewildering time. Growing up, they may not have had the experience of being read to by their own parents.

That’s why we want to use the power of storytelling in our shops and in schools to raise money to help Barnardo’s support those UK children who need it most.

Our storytelling sessions will take place on the following dates:

- 21, 22 June

- 26, 27 July

- 2, 3 August

- 9,10 August

- 16,17 August

- 23,24 August

- 30,31 August

Guest reader

To mark the beginning of Story Time, we'll have 2 special guests on 21 June: Brian Moore from Metro Radio will read the first story at 11am, followed by Carol Malia from BBC Look North who will be reading at 12 noon.

Please visit our story time page for more information.

Supporting our communities

Our aims

We're proud of the close links we forge between our Partners and local schools, charities and organisations. And wherever we do business, at home or abroad, we work with communities to make a difference. That's why:

  • Our Community Matters programme in our shops continues to support local charities and community groups
  • We aim to give at least 1% of pre-tax profits to community initiatives
  • We will continue to seek out projects that make a positive lasting impact and reach as many local people as possible

If you’d like to nominate a good cause for Community Matters please complete the nomination form and take it to the Customer Services department.

The charities we're supporting from May 2014 - July 2014

- Heel and Toe charity

- North Tyneside Disability Forum
