Supporting our communities

Our aims

We're proud of the close links we forge between our Partners and local schools, charities and organisations. And wherever we do business, at home or abroad, we work with communities to make a difference. That's why:

  • Our Community Matters programme in our shops continues to support local charities and community groups.
  • We aim to give at least 1% of pre-tax profits to community initiatives.
  • We will continue to seek out projects that support the John Lewis Foundation at home and abroad.

If you'd like to nominate a good cause for Community Matters please complete the nomination form and take it to the Customer Services department.

The charities we're supporting from May 2015 – July 2015 are:

  • The Nook Appeal - EACH (East Anglia's Children's Hospices) supports families and cares for children and young people with life-threatening conditions across Norfolk. Our donation will go towards their new hospice just outside Norwich.
  • The Ashcroft Project - A unique residential service in Norfolk which provides women suffering from severe and enduring emotional distress and long-term mental health problems with a therapeutic, safe and supportive environment. Our donation will go towards developing activities and supporting their journey to recovery.
  • MS Therapy Centre Norwich - The charity provides support and therapy to people with neurological conditions in the local area. Our donation will go towards providing free physio sessions for 2 days a week.

This is how February '15 - April '15 Community Matters' charities benefited from being part of the scheme:

  • Costume and Textile Association received £390
  • The Hamlet Centre received £1200
  • Caister Lifeboat received £1410
