Sonos SUB Wireless Subwoofer, Black
After searching the net to find out if this makes the connect with ceiling speakers sound better.
I found no answers, so I took the plunge and got it.
I am glad I did, it makes the sound more complete.
Even at low sound levels, it sounds just as good.
I hope this helps anyone with my setup

So, if like me you've stood in John Lewis a few times listening to the Sonos products (and sub), maybe had a demo or two from the sales team but left empty handed, wondering how you can justify the massive outlay for one speaker alone? Well I did just that, but temptation got the better of me and now I'm the proud owner of the Sonos sub. If you're looking at the sub you probably already own some Sonos kit so you'll know how wonderful and solidly built it is.
By adding the sub you'll get an amazing warm deep base that'll shake the house if you want it too, or subtly rumble away in the corner adding depth to what is already a great sound from the other Sonos speakers.
Yes it's expensive. But I love it.

Excellent - a must have
An absolutely excellent addition to the Sonos Playbar.
The Sub adds an extra depth when watching films and drama on TV. You do get more of the movie theatre type sound with this addition.
Listening to music is also so much better, I will be looking to also have Sub to go with the Play 5's I have in the study.
As others have said you did need to make sure its not set to loud for the sake of the neighbours.

excellent sound and quality
We have already purchased 3 play threes and 1 play five, the only thing missing for us was the subwoofer! having admired it from afar for the last 6 months, we took the plunge and purchased the subwoofer, i was not disappointed on christmas day when we took it out of the box, it looks fantastic with its sleek modern appearance, the set up was simple as expected with sonos. When we turned it on we were blown away with the deep base and the clarity of sound, if even managed to set the car alarm off when i turned it up! overall a great purchase, expensive but well worth the money.

Dive into the deep end, the water's amazing!
The moment I listened to a demo of the Sonos Play 5 in my local John Lewis store I was hooked. Agreed, its not cheap but then good stuff never is. The Sonos Play 5 produces an indulgent sound and its easy set-up belies its high-tech credentials. I couldn't fault the overall range; projection and clarity of the play 5 especially its crisp, tightly defined bass. In fact it was because I was so impressed with this, I couldn't help wondering just how insane things could get if it was aided & abetted by the Sonus SUB.
I began scouring the web for everything Sonus SUB. I was smitten by its gorgeous looks and seduced by rave reviews. I couldn't truly justify spending this kind of hard-earned cash on a SUB- but I did anyway. I'm real glad because I'd never have known what I was missing. I absolutely love my Sonus SUB- it's like 3D for audio.
This incredible added dimension isn't for everyone- especially nearby neighbours that might not appreciate you showing off your new Sonus SUB to wowed family and friends. It effortlessly sculpts the sound stage with confidence. Deeply carving crevices, creating an immersive entertainment experience. It actually makes the Play 5 sound even better since it is freed to focus on the middle and upper ranges. Sonus is smart.
Be aware, Sonus SUB is powerful and certain artists will tempt you to unleash its potency. It never fails to impress. Make sure your pictures are bolted to the walls. In saner moments, the Sonus SUB completes the sound stage by subtly adding that extra something; even when listening to softer, late night favourites.
The Sonus SUB is beautifully built and reassuringly heavy! It's also quite a looker and a jealously guarded addition to my Sonos ensemble.
Dive into the deep end, the water's amazing!

Super Sonos SUB Wireless Subwoofer
Like all Sonos speakers, it was simple to add to my stereo pair of Play 5s. There is a short set up procedure to run through, which can be done again at any time. This is to check and adjust the base sound balance, and to boost or cut the sub base effect. I found that I have added a little extra base from the null balance point. The left/right position did not need adjustment. Older music does not have the quality of recording that modern music does, so the base does not seem to be active, until you put your hand by the base port and then feel the air movement. I have tried to set it up so that the sub base is not too "in your face", trying to achieve a good natural base on music which does not have base upfront. At the far end of my home, with some music, I can hear the SUB growling away and I do not have the base enhanced much or the volume high. If you don't live in a detached house, I would think seriously before buying the SUB as you could risk spoiling your relationship with neighbours. I believe that the Play 5s are sounding better now with the SUB taking over the low base work, or could this be my imagination? I think the Sonos products that I have are just superb. Well worth saving for.

Purchased the sub to give my Sonos Play 5 some more depth. Arrived superbly packaged and upon opening noted the usual excellent build quality. Installed as easily as the Play 5 did and immediately was literally 'blown away' with the sub's performance. At 16KG it's no lightweight, but taking that into consideration it out performs it's appearance. Beautiful, rich, deep, balanced sound without any distortion a perfect companion to my Play 5. Please note that the capability of power from this sub is simply astonishing. I have had to actually 'back it off' in the settings as it is quite capable of shaking your house to pieces! If you require the ultimate sub for your Sonos setup, look no further, it delivers more than you could ever have wished for. I'm quite fortunate that I live in a large detached house so I am not in a position to upset the neighbours. In the future when I have a BBQ in the garden and take my Sonos system outside I will have to invite all the neighbours within 200 metres as not to upset them with the raw power this sub can deliver. I would really think twice about purchasing this sub if you live in a semi- detached or flat, as you will certainly have your neighbours knocking on if you crank this beast up!
Expensive item but worth every penny, you will not be disappointed.

Rocking my world!
What can I say but this really does rock, in the literal sense! I had to turn it down a little as my neighbours would complain. It was earthshaking when turned up and really does add a great feel to any movie. The playbar on its own would suffice for everyday use, better than the built in speakers but add this and you'll have the complete set! Quality is excellent as usual. Not the exactly the cheapest option but you'll get what you've paid for.
