Designed in 1980, the Bedale jacket stems from Barbour's love of horse riding.

Dame Margaret Barbour designed it with equestrian practicalities in mind, showcasing a shorter length, relaxed fit, rear vents, and the essential nylon inner drip-strip that provides resistance to dampness. Made from medium-weight waxed cotton with optional zip-in thermal liners and hoods, the Bedale is a brilliant year-round jacket.

The familiar elements of a Barbour jacket are all included, such as a brass two-way ring-pull zip and studded Stormfly front, two large bellows pockets, two moleskin-lined handwarmer pockets, and the traditional corduroy collar with studs for a hidden throat flap. Now a classic, the design's simplicity remains popular with all ages.
